Well, I'd be "In for a penny, in for a pound" [did I get that right?] for the carrier based GB. I have a 1/48 Hobby Boss F4-U Corsair [81048] of VF-61, group 6, USS Midway 1949. Its a fantastic looking kit crammed with details inclu a great engine, machine gun bays, folding wing options, drop tanks, rockets, and a nice cockpit.

Well I have 2 revel F18 E super hornets in the stash and my Hobby Boss F14 B all 1/48 obviously I can save some money and choose one of those to do have some nice furball decals for the hornets but I have a real hankering to do Another Corsair 2 I have done the Airforce D and I would love to add a Navy E to the collection already have some colorful CAG E markings in the decal stash.

Well fellas help me to decied what do you guys think I should do I cant make up my mind as of yet LOL and I already have a carrier base might as well do a whole diorama sence I have a whole 6 months to do it in lol.

Well a whole one would better than a half one any way ill look around and see if I can find a hasegawa a7 that is reasonable priced they are still highly prized kits  the idea would be to get one and have enough money left over for after market and dirorama equipment if not then ill choose either one of my hornets or my tomcat and buy diorama stuff to go with we will see what happens after bill s and stuff are paid that's life. but I have plenty of time to make up my mind  6 months is more than enough time to build a kit.

Well after looking around I could not find an A7 E priced to my liking there are a few that are cheap but across the ocean in china and korea but would have to wait a month for it to came and the shipping would be outrageous so I am going to do one of my Revell super hornets might as well have two of them waiting to be built so might as well save myself some money I have a verlinden  modern navy tow tractor on order and a Fujimi deck crew set on order as well I was thinking hard about doing my tomcat but it is just slightly too big For my base that I am going to use the hornet fits better on it. so once I get everything together ill post second half forum pics.

This group build is right up my street and I have 3 models in the stash that would fit the bill

Academy 1/32 f/a-18

Trumpeter SBD dauntless

And a Revell 1/32 navy Lynx

And I do have a soft spot for large scale carrier decks too ! But alas I just don't have the free time at the moment and the work I'm doing in the house is taking its toll on my hands, so I don't think they are up to fine scale work at the moment lol.

But at least my number one son is going to carry the torch for me this time round and I wonder what apparition will appear for him out of the cloud of alclad during the build lol

Do a more light hearted build Pete, try a 1/48 for a rapid build [smile]
You could use oil paints from Windsor and Newton and paint it with a pallet knife for some impressionistic modelling [biggrin]
