While I have you two in a chatty mood, I have a question to ask.

I have one other model to enter, but it was only used in testing on Aircraft Carriers. It's the Rockwell International OV-10A Bronco used by the Marine Corps, during Vietnam.

This is a 1999 Academy Kit that I got very cheap at the last Dublin Model Show.

Do you think this will be allowed ?

I believe the forum is now Open guys someone just posted over there unless I was looking at the wrong one. which either way does not matter to me personally I have plenty time for myself every one here knows from watching my builds that it never takes me very long to build a kit but that's just me everyone has their own way of doing things.

I know that I have not been involved with a lot of this groups builds and activities, but I would like to bring up an idea. I have notice one very strong difference within the models that have been presented, and that one thing has been scale. 1/32 is a great scale for detail and the members that work in that scale are amazing. 1/48 still allows modelers to be detailed and accurate. 1/72 is difficult to get there but can be done. what I am trying to say is instead of a 1st 2nd and 3rd, maybe we should have simply a first in each scale.

the main reason I say this is so that everyone can be challenged. people that build each scale have different abilities and I think that we should push each other to do create better no matter what skill level we are at.

I may be wrong. Pease give me some feed back and let me know how other builders feel?

Brandon,

It is very much a David vs Goliath.

Some will say that the choice of scale is yours. As, is sometimes the case you can have only 1 member enter a 1/32 scale which means an automatic win. Same applies to 1/72 scale. The standard size appears to be 1/48, but then again I've seen some 1/72 scale models look better than other scales.
I'm sure that Bobby, being the judge, is impartial to scale and judges on merit, technique, and quality of build.
One day I'm sure there will be a 1/72 Top Gun. The quality and detail of some 1/72 kits on the market are getting better and better and are nudging their way up the ladder to be recognised as serious contenders.

Some of my latest WWII prop fighters have fooled a lot of modellers...they can't believe it's in 1/72 scale.

Long live the smaller scale (I only have limited display sheves) [wink]

One could always create a cracking dio for the smaller scales to improve your top gun chances [smile]
But it is a bit like David and Goliath though 1/72 versus 1/32 but I guess it's just like F1 racing,
teams with a bigger budget have a better chance but you still need to drive well to finish [smile]
And you never know, it might rain and the 1/32nd boys might make a poor tyre choice haha [biggrin]

Anyhow, I thought we would have a little game of guess the scales [biggrin]
