Don't know if this "filter" is available everywhere but:

They are often used in the US as a permanent coffee filter in place of the paper filters. I use mine to place OVER the paper filter. It mainly keeps the paper filter from collapsing and allowing the grounds to get into the coffee. YUCK.

I am going to buy one and harvest the wire mesh for model making. really fine mesh and a LOT of it.

Thanks Michael,

Each "hobby" I have been involved in has spawned what I call the "fever". I become focused on everything I see as possibly relating to the hobby. Huge fever when I was focusing on multimedia art, then photography, even my massage practice back in the day, and now....scale modeling. I have a box of "Misc Materials" of all kinds. I need to lay some of it out and take a picture. I have thought about another multimedia art piece or even some low level steampunk designs and constructions such as accessory pieces.

lol. I've got a bunch of gears saved from airsoft rifle upgrades. Plastic and metal ones in all sizes. But not any cool watch or clock gears.

When I was doing multimedia art pieces I visited a LOT of antique/junkique/yard sales and had a whole box of old watches. I could use those parts now. I also collected old costume jewelry and took it apart for "parts" for art projects.

This wire mesh can be purchased in small sample sets for pretty cheap - they call this a "swatch" or an assortment of wire mesh - basically a few 12" x 12" squares of a number of different wire mesh with different size openings - I bought @ http://www.bwire.com and they helped me out to work out a price that was right for the stuff that I needed.  I am local, so I went down there, but they said they also ship a lot of wire mesh orders all across the United States and worldwide.

You need a few different sizes so you can tell what looks best for your specific application, and when it comes to this mesh material - I feel that I can never have enough of it laying around the garage - so many uses.

that is an instant bookmark site! I would have to give them a call or email however. the assortment of "fine" meshes in 12" X 12" squares--9 pieces [fine probably being the best for small scale models?] is like $355.90 + S/H. I may have dialed up diamond alloy??!! definitely worth a look.
