Not sure you could find a more basic kit than these two, no cockpit detail other than the pilots and even then .... very basic indeed, as are the wheels and engines [smile]

Good for some scratching though, a couple of interesting features of these kits is that the wheels are retractable and that the Hellcats wings are foldable, a nice touch if a little gimmicky, but I like it as it gives me choices on in flight or not in flight displays etc. [wink]

Given some of the models already lining up and the very high standards round here I might have to think of something really novel to have a fighting chance, maybe I could recreate that Dr Who episode with Spitfires in space, lol [biggrin]

Nooooooooo !!!! Spitfires in space is rubbish ! I haven't watched Dr Who since !! Haha [biggrin]

I'm thinking I might do a video for this one and string them up to my
hands like puppets and re-enact a dogfight sequence complete with
"home made" sound effects, need to get some editing software [biggrin]

There's enough room to stick in some small motors so that's one thing
maybe but my first idea was a deck scene with the Zero diving and firing
onto a Hellcat getting ready to scramble. Was thinking of using 1mm wire
as painted supports straight into the gun sockets for the zero and paint
them like the guns firing, white orangey yellow. Add a few more receding
strikes in the deck with a few tufts of smoke.

The wires could also be used to power the Zero's motor with the battery in the base etc. [smile]

We shall see [smile]

Cheers Steve, I'd forgotten I had these kits until recently and it seemed
a natural fit, some scratch and a dogfight double too, no sci fi but I am
looking at an old solar powered garden night light that no longer works
in the garden that has a distinct UFO shape that I may throw in the
background [biggrin]

Anyhow, after I saw these two kits sat together on my shelf my choice was easy [smile]

Sci-fi in the mix? I once saw a paperback book cover that showed USA Civil war soldiers with automatic weapons, some kind of time warp storyline--insane but....."fascinating" as a certain pointy eared science officer would say.

I started a separate build of it in "Other Builds" as I'll be turning it
into a Nazi secret weapon thingy but I couldn't resist the plasticine
moment [biggrin]
