Hi All

Has anyone tried the dual diffusion technique invented by Andrew Dextras? I've read a few articles about it but I still don't really understand how it is achieved!

Have not tried it [Im a AB rookie] but I think I just read an article about it yesterday. Basic? Prep the model and spray it all over flat black. I think that the flat black is used in place of a primer coat?? The first link below is by Mr Dextras. It is sort of vague and limited?

The next link is by sven-ake grnfstedt and he calls the technique that he uses "Forced Contrast"--you will have to scroll through several pages but he takes a model from the beginning [flat black overcoat] to the end, after all weathering techniques have been applied.

I don't know who "invented" what technique or when, but BOTH links seem to be describing the SAME process???? Neither one of them credits the other as a source of the technique

Thanks for the two links!

I have also seen the technique used on model planes, I think it looks great but I'm not sure it's something I'm ready to take on at the moment (new to airbrushing).

As I stated earlier, I have not used the technique, but maybe in the future I will grab an old cheap kit and see what its all about. Personally, I feel that the techniques that Bob has been showing on his challenger tank build produce very similar results. It would scare me pretty good to take a completed model and totally spray it flat black---call me "CHICKEN"---LOL
