It's kind of ready, manage to fix the broken strut a little better. Only got some minor things left. Like painting turnbuckles and apply some flat on glossy CA spots. I will also make a simple base and I've ordered a figure from AlleyCat to accompany the plane.

Thanks for all the support! Will continue to post some pictures of the base and figure when I make any progress.

Cheers!

knew you would remedy it. Probably happened in real scale at some point?

Some pictures of the base.

Cheap picture frame with the glass glued to the frame, CelluClay with sand and finally painted with brownish colours and pigments.

Static grass from GW, the rest are products from woodland scenics, PVA isn't dry yet.

Still waiting for the figure to arrive

Thanks for looking!

Oh man! The picture doesn't show the damage so much after your repairs and I'm sure you will make it invisible by the time you're done. Having to fix mistakes is what makes us better modellers later on. I fix mistakes all of the time, lol.

Your crate still looks 100x better than mine. Especially that rigging! I admit this build is making mine feel second rate lol. But the scale difference definitely has its advantages in level of detail, that's for sure.

Anyways, I'm working on mine while I work on my M-41 and I should have an update on my Albatros later today.

I'm still a little jealous of this build, Doc. Its absolutely gorgeous so far. Better than your Sopwith even, and that's saying a lot because that build is stellar.

Thanks guys!

Someone said (think it was Mig Jimenez) "That it's the ability to hide mistakes that separates great modellers from the good ones" [smile]. Maybe there's something to it. However I need to practice that ability a bit more because the damage is still visible but only really close up so I will leave it as it is on this one and learn for the future.

Finished the base, just cut some of the tufts and applied a flat coat

And the finished bird on the base from another angle

Still haven't received the figures I ordered, but as soon as they get here it's time for some figure painting and the final reveal.

Everything has come together so well.

Seems like most of what I do is covering mistakes. they happen and recovery is a big part of the game of scale modeling. you might show this build to 100 people and no one would notice the break/repair. problem is, you know its there and your eye is drawn to it.

So true! For me it always takes a couple of weeks after I finished a build before I can look at it with "fresh" eyes and see it as a whole and not just stare at the problem areas. Often I like it more but It's also at this point I see other problem that should have been addressed, things I take with me to the next build.

Last update before the final reveal post.

Just thought I should share some photos I took during the figure painting process.

I want to say a big THANKS to all of you for the encouragement and support during this build, I've had a really god time putting this one together.

Starting to get the bench cleared from all my unfinished projects now and getting ready for the upcoming GB!

Thanks again and happy modelling to you all!
