I received this is the post today - thank you Bobby/Genessis, Im very pleased to win this in the August competition. I do not have a Spitfire in my stash and have not built one since I was young. I will enter in the group build (my first one) and try to do the kit justice. I have a lot on at the moment - house to decorate before baby #1 arrives (who may end my modelling hobby for some time!), but i will try to comlete the build on before December.

The kit looks great, with 6 choices of paint schemes. Not sure which one I will do yet, but I will figure it out soon.

The Hind will have to be shelved for a while too!

You'll love the Kit I completed one a little while ago if you want to have a look it's in the members final reveal and the build is in members photo builds. Went together like a dream. I'm doing another for the grp build and doing the NMF one going to start soon.

Its been a busy time, I have finished glossing the doors, the frames can wait!.

I have been working on the Spitfire and have finished the cockpit. I forget to take some photos before I closed the fueslage, so apologies for that.

There are several choices of colours in this Eduard kit, but I have decided to be a bit different, and also hopefully add something diferent to the group build. I have ordered some decals for -" 145 Polish Sqd North Africa 1943". Go these on line from Hannants.com.

Bit of a problem - my airbrush has broke! it was only a cheap one so no real loss. I have ordered a Veda airbrush following Bobby's review in August. I got it off Ebay for £15  Just waiting for it to arrive from Korea.

Next step is the wings and tail fin. Going to have a closed cockpit for this one...

Spent some time on this recently. Fitted the wings and tail fin. Blue tacked the engine doors on for painting. I will add the exhaust after. Bit of a problem, the fit hasn't gone together very well and there is plenty of sanding and filling required. It was probably my fault as hobbyhubby did this kit with no problems.

Still no sign of the airbrush...

WOW [eek] Man! what happened Derby?. Mine was a near perfect fit all the way thru the build so can't understand where all those gaps are coming from. Hope the rest of the build goes better for you

Ok, the filling has been done and the canopy masked. I am going to prime it with Tamiya fine primer then paint it with my new Veda airbrush..

Looks like you are back on track. Are you still doing those Polish Fighter Team markings?

Its been a wet Saturday here and I have been home alone, so its been a great chance to catch up on some modelling.

I primed the spitfire in the week and painted it today. I preshaded the pannel lines and gave it a coat of Tamiya XF-60. I sepnt quite a lot of time masking with white tack reasy for the coat of Tamiya XF-52.

I have concerns that the white tack is going to affect the paint underneath. Should I have given it a coat of Klear before masking?

Hi everyone,

had a busy week so its been a whike since the last post. I have been working on the Spit. Finished the camoflage then a coat of klear. I tried for the first time the black chalk wash - as shown by Bobby in the September show. It came out of and I think with practice, the panel lines will be even better. The decals went on with ease, hen another coat of Klear.

It starting to look good. I am pleased with it so far and may have rescude what could have been a pup. Im really pleased with the pre shading showing through. It gives it some good definition.

more to follow
