OK, here is my entry: The 1/48 scale F-14A

[a08d77fe-110b-4c41-9376-e761bc239627_zpsvqmx1tju]

Aftermarket items: The complete PE/Resin sets, that Eduard produces for this kit.

Colors: AK interaktiv "Modern U.S. Aicraft Set 1" and Ammo of MIG Panel-Liner Set for U.S. Navy Gray Jets.

Sprues:
[048_zpsip8wuxmy]  [045_zpsgp85xpja]
[046_zpsmvnpgpir]
The resin stuff:
[042_zpsnl8f343h]
The PE:

[041_zpse7gby7c2]
And the decals:
[043_zpstb32z6nx]

My plan is to build the F-14 with the wings in the forward position and with the slats and canopy open. For the markings I will go with the VF-111 "Sundowners" for two reasons: 1.For future builds there is the Academy F-4B Phantom with these markings available and also a decal sheet (i think from furball aerodesign) for the Hasegawa F-8 Crusader. This wil make a nice "Sundowners" trilogy on the shelf. 2: But the main reason is: I can't resist planes with a sharkmouth! [biggrin]

OK, let' get started.

Nasty things first.

I've done some resin cutting and sanding in the backyard ( I hate this job!). The fitting of the parts ist very nice. There is only a very small gap from the wheelhubs to the tires, but som thinned down PVA-glue should take care of this easily.

It wouldn't be a "carrier based" group build without a Tomcat, looks like a nice kit mate.

Good to see you get started, I'm looking forward to watching this develop

Great to see the Eduard Lim Ed of the HB kit. The HB kit is a dream compared to the Has kit (except for the exhaust fit). Have one of these in the stash so looking forward to seeing how the eduard AM parts spruce up what is already a great kit. Also looking forward to a VF-111 scheme. Good luck!

Second day of the build anf first issue with the instructions: They tell you to sand down the moulded details on the parts E17 and N7 and glue them into the cockpit tub. VERY BAD IDEA. If you do this, the PE parts P4 and P11 won't fit on the sidepanels any more. But before i realized this, the glue was already dry.[bawl] OK, time to put out the hobbyknife and chop off these parts, followed by sanding, re-priming......
[004_zpsskeacett]

After that. i just did a little work on the PE by puttting a grey wash over the cockpit parts to dull down the black and bring out the panellines. After the wash has dried, i laminated some parts with Micro Kristal Klear together. Finally a coat of steel on the intake fans. And that's it for today.

Update for today: Little bit of brushpainting on the stick and the circuitbreakers in the backoffice, Next thing to be painted will be the switches and buttons on the sticks for pilot and RIO. Main job was to put in all the PE panels. No problems after the cockpit surgery two days ago. [001_zpsegvrmdtj]
See you soon.

OK, today I took a break from the cockpit and went to the engines.

[001_zps73vvnf1q]

I sprayed the backpart and the PE with AK Extreme Metal "Jet Engine". The tubes were sprayed with a 2:1 mix of white and radome tan for a "ceramic" look. Of course there will be some washes and pigments in the future for a "Burnt Out" look.

After drying I installed the two rings. The smaller one went in quite easy, but the larger one was a bit of a pain, because there was no place for the tweezers to get a grip. The one on the photo is quite OK, but the second one will need a small re-spray because of some scratches on the PE.

[002_zpsya3cnuhn]

Tomorrow I will try to glue the other PE-parts together. Wish me luck.[crazy]

Looks great, particularly the burner cans. The PE just brings it to life.

Good luck [thumb]
