Hi All

I am working on the Lightning at the moment. The Mig is sort of on hold until this has been finished.

Its the Airfix kit which is very nice. Going together really easy. I forgot to post stuff here (its for a GB elsewhere sorry)

I love the Lightning, it has a special bond for me as it was my Dads favourite plane. He used to take me (and the rest of the family) to countless air shows in my youth. He was the reason I love planes and the reason I build kits.

I have wanted to build one since I got back into the hobby (which was just after he passed away), but it has been my "not sure if I can" kit for obvious reasons. Well with the Mig eating my mojo I needed something that would get me going. I looked in the stash and thought you know what 'NOW IS THE TIME'. So thats it and here is my progress in a few short pics.

I had a few problems with weighing the nose down as the glue decided to eat the plastic, but hey it did not slow me down.

I have just put a coat of clear on so will be working on decals soon

Thanks
Simon

Simon,
I am glad you are sharing this build with us. I did not get in on the Lightening GB here a while back. Nothing lights a fuse for modeling like seeing the real thing blaze across the sky and land in front of you, right? SUBSCRIBED!

Could not agree more Ted.

I always loved the Lightnings Lets go vertical routine, was always a highlight. And each time I do some work on it I can picture it screaming down the runway then boom straight up. Fond memories.

Should start decals in the next few days. Just finishing undercarriage.
