You can read about  Captain Hudner at  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_J._Hudner,_Jr.

A diorama of him in that F4U crashed in the ice field could be really nice.

Hey, that's the one Seth. Thanks for the research mate! And flown by a real hero :-). So the picture I found is definitely heavy photoshopped... by I'm open for artistic interpretation in photography AND modeling ;-). So I'm tempted to do one in black. But first finish this one, and my P-61 is gathering dust :-/

I hope your aunt can find some pictures!

It started out to be but the front end was so long that the pilots had trouble landing it on deck cause they couldn't see . so it was used on the islands of the pacific. Then someone figured out that you had to come in at an angle to the deck then turn in at the last second and was brought back to carriers. Heard about this on some WWII show somewhere lol probably youtube.

I saw that this documentary on YouTube the other day. It looked quit nerve wrecking 0.0. I guess I have an idea for the next GB :-)

The decals are done. They behaved very well and conformed nicely with set an sol. There were quite a bit of stancils which are almost not visible - very small and black on dark blue. But hey, used them all because Revell did the effort :-)

Next will be a little chipping following by weathering. I want to try a dusty look... Hope I can pull it of because I like the build very much till now :-)

Great work on the F4U, even better when you realize the scale!

She's pretty small indeed. Thanks Seth! I ordered a 1/48 Tamiya Corsair today :-). Really want to try that black finish!
Maybe I can build here for the new GB... have to be patient...

Thank you Ted. Started the weathering process. First a little chipping of the wingroots...

The underside is pretty much done. Maybe a little pigments after the mat coat. Pretty dirty :-)

Also preparing the small parts for final assembly. Maybe I can finish here this weekend?

Thanks for watching...

Looking really good! and YES, especially for a 1/72....anyone who thinks that this scale is "easy", needs to hook into one!

You have much nicer details to work with than I did on my Testors Corsair. I'm really liking your weathering. Looks tops mate.  [biggrin]
