This is part of a duo build of this kit completed 1 which is for the Nationals at Telford in November, this 1 is just for the hell of it as I had 2 kits, these were the releases from about 2000, without the etch sets of the latest re releases. As with most Tamiya kits it not far off falls together, but like a lot of the older kits needs some clean up especially on the pipework to remove fairly large mould seams, the build sequence is straight forward starting with the tub, off which everything else then hangs, working front suspension, oil and coolant radiators and tanks, engine and gearbox. The tub had the foot pedals and fire extinguisher tank added, and was primed with Alclad grey micro primer, then Alclad black base coat, I then used a paint called Liquid Glass, made by Glasurit which is used for chrome trim repairs on real car interior trims such as door handles and the like, it works just like Alclad but dries rock hard as it is intended to withstand a lot of handling. The radiators and oil and coolant tanks are Tamiya XF16 flat aluminium, the engine and gearbox are various Alclad shades. Next part is to assemble the rear suspension and brake units.
Here are the current progress photos.

Thanks for looking
Gary

Thanks Mike so far it is all kit only bits but the seat belts and the cockpit details will be scratch built, along with Lauda's crash helmet and gloves that will go on the side pods. There will also be some scratch built wiring and connectors added around the engine, gearbox and oil and water radiators. Starting with the body work paint will be next on the agenda. Glad you like it so far thanks for the positive comments mate as always very encouraging.

Sorry Gary but I managed to miss this build, I have just read through mate and I have to say that's fantastic work you are doing here ! Mind blowing detail and excellent building and painting.

This is one of those kits that I gazed longingly at in the Tamiya catalogue but was never allowed to buy lol ! There was a Porsche 911 in 1/12 in there as well as I remember.
Man I would love both of those kits now

Great work Gary and I'll be sure to keep up to date with this one now I've found it

Hi Pete good to hear from you mate hope things are ok with you, had the whole series of these 12ths at one time or another, just swapped the 312T4 with a mate of mine for the 24th scale Spitfire, if you fancy a 12th Ferrari to build mate I have a spare 126C2  the Protar/Revell kit which is a superb model if your going to Telford you can have it mate I know it would be finding a good home.

Gary, that's a seriously generous offer mate.and I would love to take you up on it.
Unfortunately I won't be attending Telford this year, I usually top up my bits and bobs there every November, but this year things are a little on the tight side money wise and the cost of fuel, parking and entry eats into the amount I have to spend in the show so for the first time in years I have sadly decided to give it a miss and have literally just ordered my paints and odds and sods for the year online :-(

I truly appreciate the kind offer mate and perhaps I can take you up on it at another show in the future.

Thanks again Gary, the kindness and generosity that the memebers show each other on this site never ceases to amaze me

Pete sorry to hear you will miss Telford the offer is open ended mate, we normally do half a dozen or so shows a year the nearest to yourself I suppose are Thornbury/Avon or possibly Yeovilton, which ever one you can make let me know and I will bring the Ferrari along.
Regards
Gary

Gary..I just found this build thread on the forum.  Excellent work!  I also started this kit many, many years ago and it resides unfinished in about the same state as your last post.  I would love to see more including the final build.  What paint will you be using for the red body parts?
