OK at last I am getting this thread going....!

I have taken the box, sprue, goodies pictures and will load them up later today.

This is my second model after coming back to the hobby, first time resin, first time PE (and first time decals as I have not got that far on my Tomcat yet!!!).

I did make a start over the weekend in putting together all of the PE from the unpainted fret as I am trying to get origanised with what needs spraying Grey / Black. It seems to have gone great so far....[frown]

I know that there are a few Da Nang kits in this group build so I thought I would state that I am going to build the VF111 Sundowners markings, I am going with pilots (even though I am building all of the cockpit PE for practise) and I have a plan for a unique twist but I will see if 1) that plan comes off and 2) if it turns out to be unique!!!

I have been slogging away at my F14 for 6 months and am amazed how starting a new kit has spurred me on to some long sessions over the weekend. I do have in mind that I must finish my F14 though so will be doing to two kits in tandum.

Glad to be part of the GB comp. hope you enjoy the journey like I am going to.....

Good luck with your build. I too will be doing the Da nang Sundowner version. Holding off on starting until I finish my Corsair. Finished priming last night. Maybe some color tonight.
I am trying to come up with something unique also.

Great to see you here Andy ! I too have a "unique idea" for mine, but I can't help but think it won't end up being as unique as I think it will lol ! I'm keen to see your progress pics on this mate, it really does look like a cracking kit ! Good luck on your journey and we are all with you too !

Thanks Steve, Pete. I think the Sundowners will look great with that splash of red and white on the tail. Its going to be interesting to see all of these "unique ideas"...like you said Pete we will see in the end what is unique and what is not. Anyway without further ado...

Here is the shots of the kit...and goodies therein..

And here is the scheme I am going with...

I started by trying to get all of the gold unpainted parts made up so I can either attach them into the tub and then spray grey all at the same time and get those parts which need spraying black all together... These are the first few sections of the instructions which are 99% PE...as I said I have never done PE before but it seemed mostly fine so far..

I bought a little bar chopping board for the PE cutting which works great for a couple of quid.

So here is my progress so far after a few hours..

The only problem so far is attaching the small corner brace shown at the top of the PE in this picture...

I was trying to glue it when the wife called for me to come and say goodnight to my daughter..just when I had superglue on the go!! Anyway I was starting to get frustrated with it (not the wife [wink]) so I decided enough was enough and left it overnight so I will hopefully get it right tonight.

I thought you might want to see my bench (table)...

In close proximity to my daughter's drum kit at the moment [rolleyes]...

I avoid building when she is playing!!! (she is very good though!)

That is all for now...

Thanks for all of the comments guys, it is appreciated.

Just a heads up...when working on the air intakes we always want to check that there are no seam lines....this guy took modelling a bit far on the checking seam lines front...

He did survive apparently...be careful out there!!

that guy did come out of there ok, but he refuses to do anymore "safety" videos of any kind. Pete and Kenny, going to syndicate you guys and Gra on your own comedy show. As for the drums, my oldest boy started them in the 4th grade and worked at it all the way through college. He is married 10 years now with 3 little girls. I can remember all the years of drum beats in the house.

My daughter, Jasmine, is currently grade 2 and doing well she is very musical..piano, steel drums, singing...we have a programme here in the UK called The Voice which she has her eye on. Maybe I can give up the day job and become her manager some day!!
