A replica of my friend Steve's Austin Healey Sprite [smile]
Building as a desk ornament for his study,
will include a wooden base diorama display plinth of a small piece of country road.

One thing I do love is irony,
it might be a big scale but it's still a small model !!
haha [biggrin]

Anyhow, my starting pics [smile]

Cheers Ian,
and yep plenty of scratching potential given how basic the kit is [wink]

Made a start on it prepping it and gluing the major assemblies etc.
pics coming soon but I got side tracked with making a couple of book shelfs
as I have a hang glider coming soon and I need somewhere to put it !! lol [biggrin]

need to get some 2mm rub on letrsets for the front registration though,
dashboard needs to be modified quite a bit as does the steering wheel,
also need to add an ariel, exhaust, cockpit covering, foot pedals, door interiors,
wind screen wipers, various bolts and studs etc.
and I need to do something to emulate the carpet on the floor and around the gear box.

So for such a small model there is plenty to do ! but I do like a challenge [smile]

I'll post up some reference pics later today though.

Some initial progress, major assemblies prepped, glued  and fit issues resolved etc.
Just considering how I might emulate a carpet texture for the cockpit floor and gear box cover ... mmm....
As you can see from the ref and what''s on the kit there is plenty of scratch to do 😉

Had a go at deforming an oil drum for the dio .

Some ref pics
note the rusty oil drum on the upper right,
that's the intended diorama at 1:1 😉
One proud owner  😉

Hi Paul,

I saw one of these cars, in red no less, on the highway here in Canada this past weekend.  I instantly thought of your build and you're correct, it is a very small car.

Hope to see some more progress on this build with the end of the GB getting closer.
