Gloss acrylic clear lacquer such as MR UV Gloss clear which is in a rattle can, or any acrylic automotive clear, such as Simonize or I sometimes use Zero paints pre thinned gloss which is for airbrush use, if building automotive subjects such as race/rally cars etc DO NOT USE Tamiya clear over decals it will destroy them.
Hope this helps
Gary

Gary, thanks for the advice about Tamiya's clear over decals!  I actually bought a bottle of "Clear X-2" this morning to try out.  I also bought Liquitex Professional 'High Gloss Varnish' for trial.  I have not been able to locate MV UV gloss Clear locally but could try on line.

If you do any automobile models I would like to see some of your work.

I've used Plasticote on car models before. Polishes exactly like any real car would after that. But honestly, there are so many different ways you can do it. If it works, it works.
