Ah, that looks familiar!!

Maybe us Da Nang builders will have to put a Secret slant on our models to set them apart from each other.......I am thinking...[idea]

Hi guys, the  Da Nang kit really is super.Andy I think your right otherwise we may end up with dozens of "Jolly Rogers" F4's.
I am going to do mine on a Carrier deck just Landed theme with the arrest wire etc

I was planning to do my Tamiya one as "jolly rogers" as I love the scheme, the other choices I have are "fighting shamrocks" or "Red Devils" it's a really hard choice to make as they are all really nice markings, and I'm terrible at choosing any thing lol !

You will not believe it but that was one of my SECRET ideas!!! You go with it and I'll go with an alternative. My problem is I like planes without pilots and I wanted to try out the fabric seat belts. Maybe I'll just do mine with the pilot ejecting through the canopy before his weapons operator got into the plane and sat on his fabric seatbelt LOL!!!

If I have time I think I will go with a carrier deck launch just starting. I have ordered some 1/48 carrier deck crew. BUT as I build so slowly I might just be able to get the plane finished...we'll see.

Have fun all.

A deck launch was what I had in mind too lol ! Oh well it's going to have to be a full on high altitude dogfight with pilots ejecting, missile damage the lot ! Now where can I find a 1/32 mig 21 lol !

Tongue firmly in cheek

Finally got round to starting on the Da Nang Phantom, and so far its been a dream to put together, I have decided on the Bengals markings for an aircraft stationed in Da Nang in 1966, which is option B on the instructions.
As per the instructions started with the cockpit, and here Eduard make things pretty clear as to what bits to remove or file away, to be replaced by the pre coloured and plain etched parts.
I decided to build up all the non painted etch parts as they take glue much better than when painted. Once all the parts were in place I then primed the cockpit tub with Alclad grey micro filler primer, as it takes to etch parts better than the Vallejo primer I normally use. When it had dried I then airbrushed H317 grey.
Next assembly of the pre coloured parts, for this I use Micro Krystal Klearthen run in extra thin CA glue. The Krystal Klear also gives the effect of the glazed faces for the various dials. I then airbrushed the Matt Black areas as needed.
Currently at the stage where the intakes need assembly next, main gear bays and legs are assembled and the inner wing 1/2's are on as well.
Here are the photos of its current stage

Thanks for looking and good luck to all in the GB really enjoying some fantastic builds and thanks for sharing your techniques and tips
Gary
