Cheers guys, appreciate it!

This is still some basic stuff except for the rack and pylons which were a pain to get right. There is still a lot to come though (landing flaps anyone ...). However, if I can pull it off, the end result should be very nice. Eduard really did a beautiful job on this one.

Anyway, progress will be slow until the cockpit and the landing flaps are finished as I will be taking my time with the PE.

Cheers,
Wim.

hey having good PE is one thing but fitting it well is another thing entirely. You've done a great job Wim. [thumb]

I agree with everyone Wim, that's very neat and clean work with the etch, it can be a right strain on the patience but you are making it look easy mate and not a stray drop of glue to be seen !

Great work

Aww man. Can't wait to see this one unfold. It's a great kit. I actually have it at about 75% done. I cracked the windscreen and could never get a replacement. All that PE is just going to make it that much better. Looks great so far.

Cheers guys!

Had a bit of a busy 2 weeks so not much progress to show for. I did manage to get a few hours of work in last week but had not yet had the opportunity to post some pics.

Though ... during those few hours, I did have a few problems ... I did break several really small pieces while trying to get them off the sprues. Also some tiny pieces were already broken. The quality of the plastic apparently is not that brilliant so ... much of my limited time was spent trying to repair stuff [bawl]. Also, at some points the fit is not that good and the instructions are not always that clear, had to break off some things due to me having misread or misunderstood the instructions.

The PE is coming along nicely though and the cockpit is finally starting to take shape, nearly ready to go to a first painting stage. The process is slow though ... [rolleyes]

I'll have some pictures coming up this weekend.

Now back to the forum to catch up with the brilliant work of all you guys!!

Wim.

The best option is to get the Squadron vacuform cockpit but it is a pain to get hold of. It took me quite a long search on eBay to get one (still needs to arrive). It also allows you to use the open version of the cockpit, the clear parts in the kit are simply too thick.

That's the plan. Though I haven't been able to really find it. Granted, I've not really tried all that hard. You're rigt though. The open version in the kit is unusable. And I really wanted it open, but meant to settle on it closed and messed them both up...go figure. haha.

Wim. I also broke several small parts trying to wrangle them off the sprue. I saw a tip in Fine Scale Modeler where they recommended cutting off the chunky part of the sprue with the small part on it--gluing the part in place---has to be a "surface" piece--then, when it is firm, clipping the sprue part away and sanding. Hope that makes sense? Best wishes with that kind of repair--very discouraging.

Hey guys, finally had some time to get back to the bench and actually made quite a bit of progress. Cockpit PE as good as done, cockpit painted and a first drybrush. Still needs to get a wash and some detailing but that will be for next week ...

What I also wanted to say, is that although I did not post in your threads (time .... time ....), I tried to follow everything and must say that the "competition" is stiff ... really beautiful things going on!! Congrats to all of you.

So here some updates ...

Fuselage painting and PE

The cockpit comes in different parts. I already did a dry fit ... is not going to be easy...

Did some shopping forthe diorama too ...

Looking at the pictures, I have seen I will need to do some corrections. Not bad to photograph your own work and look at it critically.

Anyway, that's it for now. Thanks for looking y'all! Next update probably next weekend ... busy week ahead.

Cheers,
Wim.
