Thanks Paul.

First of all, the parts already had a slight wood texture so that certainly helped.

Regarding the painting, I lightly sprayed the parts a Hobby Color Mahogany (as per the instructions). I then applied highly thinned Mig Light Wood and Mig Old Wood in streaks, varying and mixing the two colours. Where it became too light (as both Mig colours are very light and only have a small variation in colour), I used thinned Mahogany again. And that's about it ... it's simply mixing the colours until you have a variation that works. The most difficult thing about all this is that you can only see the effect properly when it has dried, so I did do some light retouching afterwards.

Cheers,
Wim.

That Torpedo really looks good. Also the rest of your work. Nice and proper.

Finally some bench time again. Painted and weathered the underside using some a combination of post-shading, Mig neutral wash and pigments to blend it all in. Mixing the grey-blue colour for the topside was fun also ... took me like an hour to get it ok but I am happy with the result. Made sure that I have enough because there is no way I can concoct this again [rolleyes] Tried out some multi-layered chipping effects on the wings, worked out pretty nice, will need some blending in though because it is a bit into your face at the moment.

And finally, while waiting for things to dry, I had some fun(?) with PE for the dio.

Comments welcome ... (sorry, not all images are that good, I need to buy me a decent camera).

Silver layer ...

Chipping on the wings using AK chipping fluid ...

Different layers (metal colour sealed in first) ...

Wash (Mig Neutral wash) and cleanup ...

Torpedo cover...

PE fun ... (the PE arrived a bit bent and dented so not the cleanest work but the best I could get it).

Thanks for watching,
Wim.

Decided to press on today and did the topcoat as well. I will need to do some corrections as I have a bit of overspray here and there. Now let everything dry and up to next weekend for the weathering. Going to make this thing really bashed up.

Thanks for watching,
Wim.

Thanks Thomas, the chipping will need some blending in. The images don't real show it but it is quite into your face.

And PE ... indeed LOL. I also found that it likes to fly and play hide and seek [rolleyes]

Wim.

Right, life can be a <placeholder> ... Having had to go abroad for work quite unexpectedly for like five weeks (for those interested ... Luxembourg and India), not much - as in nothing - happened regarding the build. Luckily, I was already quite far into the build so that today, I did some touch ups, a bit of colour modulation here and there and gave everything a coat of Future so I can start with the decals. Dreading this part a bit as the wings have these raised striped areas and the biggest decals need to go on top of these. Ah well, we'll see.

Anyway, no images yet but I should be able to put some up tomorrow. In the meanwhile, I am going to try and catch up with all the builds ongoing and finished.

Cheers,
Wim.

Alright ... progress.

Everything has been decaled up, just waiting for it all to dry so I can clearcoat it again and do the last weathering and details.

I will probably be able to finish in time but a diorama might be a bit too much ... we'll see.

Thanks for watching.
Wim.

Cheers Fabian. Due to a massive amount of work, my mojo was starting to dwindle slowly away I must admit. Back on track though.

Anyway, there must be something like a GB demon somewhere. Sunday evening, I hurt my back due to making a wrong movement while moving some woodpellet bags ... end result: two weeks rest. No too bad though, I can do just about anything except sitting, standing or lying down for more than 5 minutes [rolleyes] Nonetheless, the weeks away from work will do me good (although it is not exactly a holiday) and should give me time to do some more modelling (where are the pain killers, or maybe I should sniff some Alclad ... same result usually ... [crazy] [wink]

Cheers,
Wim.
