this kit is an absolutely nightmare...
so much flash and weird places for sink marks.
all i do is gluing sanding putting putty sanding again and rescribing, i expected so much more from an hasegawa kit [mad]
after this long whining it's time for an update:
the cockpit is almost done, leaving the seats for last (added some scratch building - tubes and wiring, throttle and the instrument panel of the back office)

[20150910_225922_zpsvl0t4vlu]

painted the front landing gear wheel well and weathered it:

here are some pics of the end result of the process mention before, seam line gone and all the detail rescribed...

enjoy

Pit and NWW look great! And the spine repair looks good as well! I think during the weathering process later on, you will be able to blend it in quite nicely!

Yea the HAS Tomcats have been and always will be a challenge to build..... But your doing great!

Keep on truckin'!

Dave

put the front and back fuselage halves together, some fit issues with those two, the front fuselage is about 2 mm higher than the back fuselage part had to put some milliput to adjust. next came the beaver tail and i've glued the airbrakes in the closed position.
added the air intakes and the engine housing, which was quit a chalange.
built the landing gears and a lot of other minor subassemblies, did some dryfitiitng and already noticed some major fit issue with the burners (yellow circles in the photo).
photos - after i sand and rescribe i spray a layer of vallejo black to see the if it need a second try, see how much black [wink]?
in the photos below where i've added the red circles is my current attempt to fix the fit issues.

enjoy,

G'day mate, I use my Tamiya F-14 instructions for all my colour call outs on weapons (that are applicable).
According to them the colour you are after is Light ghost grey. Which in my AK navy jet set is FS36375. The tip is semi-gloss white by the looks (50:50 gloss/flat)
Keep up the good work.

update time

to my disappointment, lucky model has done it again, I've purchased the fighter-town decal sheet for the bounty hunters although it wasn't in stock. they emailed me and told me they will restock in a few weeks, after two month they didn't received it and they don't going to get it for some time... i had to cancel my order (again) and buy aeromaster's decal sheet, i had some trouble finding a good decal sheet for the bounty hunters squad.
that's it, I've done with the building stage and moved to painting. i'm going on the heavy weathered look on that one and going to try some new technique there.
primed the plane with vallejo primer, did some pre-shading to the lower fuselage:
[20151021_205528_zps7pnst3fn]

i then painted the lower fuselage using the ammo mig us navy set, did some bleaching and post-shading and here is the result so far:

the phoenix, sparrow and sidewinders are from the hobby boss f-14B kit I've purchased for this build.
sorry for the poor quality of the photos...

enjoy
