Thanks fellas and Dave? Thanks for that endorsement mate, can't find a hell of a lot on the Corsair online (not that I've looked terribly hard. Lol) so really have no clue other than a good dose of artistic license.
This is a colourful bird Fabian. So thanks already mate. I'm hoping it's a bit of eye candy by the end. [smile]

Just a catch up on proceedings.
Fuselage is together and the weapons are at the paint stage.
Landing gear is painted not weathered yet.
The kit is a ripper.

Probably can't see the seam too well in these pics, but it's fine. Nothing unmanageable. I'll tackle that in a day or two.

Vroom Vroom mofo.

Ah yeah, the weapons and landing gear. Weapons get painted tomorrow.

Hope you're all well anyway. [smile]

Good morning Gents. I have plodded along with this build nicely so time for a small update.
As I've progressed with this kit, in the manner that I've approached the build (in a "non-rivet counting" kind of way.) I have found, not surprisingly, that my mojo is making a welcome return. Plus a couple of other factors in my life falling into place have helped too. So the last few months has confirmed something I never actually knew.
I hate living alone! lol It completely destroyed my motivation.
I still live alone but I have some long-distance company to check I'm still alive now and then. lol
So to say I am pleased at the moment is an understatement.

On top of that this kit is still impressing me. I just wish my skills were a little less rusty. But that's not a huge concern right now. It's about the fun after all. [smile]

I have finished painting detail in the avionics bays, they will get a seal of future today before they get a wash. I'm trying a new technique with the wash for this build. I'll let you know if it works. lol

Underwing stores are also (nearly) ready for future. Just got to give the big one a coat of light ghost grey first. Hobby boss do a clever trick. They supply you with a few extra weapons on the sprues, and then list them as "unused parts" so they don't have to reference them in the instructions. So I'm using Tamiyas paint references from my Black Knights kits for the GBU. I've used some artistic licence elsewhere however. lol

Once the wheel wells and avionics bays have been sealed and weathered I'm hoping to be able to seal them up temporarily with their appropriate covers for the painting of the fuselage. rather than trying to mask it all and paint those parts separately. We'll see how that pans out.
Oh I did fill the nose up with split shot just to cover my tail sitting bum. (no pun intended) lol
What else? Oh yeah I have a parcel coming today, first modeling parcel in months so check out "what got delivered today" a bit later. Been waiting all year for this one. [wink]
Thanks for reading this far.
Have a good one. [smile]

You are getting stuck right into this one mate, looking good and coming together fast.

Cockpit and avionics bays are very well done, I used the same colour in the bay's of my Trumpeter A-7 but I think the cockpit cills are black or dark grey, and the zinc yellow is a primer that you can sometimes see coming through the worn paint ( forgive me if this is just a base colour for weathering I thought I'd point it out)

Hehehehehe the gravy boat is epic Mmmmmm Bisto !

Ah thanks Pete! Yeah I did have some thinking ahead with those sills, I remember when I painted them thinking "Umm dunno, they can be this colour for now" haha, as you do.
So thanks for the heads up now. I'll certainly take that one on.
Sing out if you see anything else blindingly obvious that I can fix. I'm really just "winging" this one. Pun very much intended. lol

ok I have just plodded along with this doing the hundred jobs that still need doing on a "simple" build.
It's worth it though. This kit has behaved itself throughout. And is definitely recommended if you want to do the Corsair II.

Anyway. Some pics.

The Mk82's look great I reckon. Lovely detail with the rack too. Looks great altogether.

The Sidewinders look pretty cool too.

The other bits. ...

Wings are glued into place. Didn't put a sanding stick to it the fit was that good.

I was going to get some close ups of the wheel wells etc, but my camera went flat on the last shot and now I have to tear the cave apart to find the charger ... tomorrows job.
Won't be long until paint stage on the fuselage. Looking forward to it too.
Thanks for looking. [smile]

Howdy, here are some pics of the last 24 hours. Sorry the photos are crap I really need a little compact for some close up stuff.

Anyway, I feel a bit of a phoney being in the group build as this is really a "Rapid" build to get the mojo running. Which it is doing btw.
And my painting is a bit rusty, and if someone could tell me how to fix a compressor from spitting water all the time I'd be grateful. That did mess proceedings up a little.

Primed with Vallego Grey Primer last night, Did the preshading this morning. The underside white went on this afternoon with a coat of clear tonight. Temp was mid-thirties today and nice and dry so work proceeded at a rapid rate (thanks mojo).

I'll give the clear 24 hours before I attempt to mask it. It may need longer yet.

Here are the pics. Nothing much to report on the kit, other than it's great! [smile]

I have no idea what I'm loading here. I think it's worked, but photobucket is being a complete DOG!

Thanks for looking. [smile]

I just realised the tops of the flaps and the rudder is also white, it's just after midnight here but I'll knock that over too.

Lovely work Simon. Your attention to detail is exquisite.

BTW, please don't talk about readjustment from being in the tropics. I'm about to do the same thing in three months and not looking forward to it at all. Mind you being able to get my hands on Gunze paints and thinners at the drop of a hat will be nice.

Looking forward to the next update!

Sean
