I bought this kit at the IPMS convention  in Chattanooga, TN [my home town]last week and thought that if I tossed it in this GB, I would have a commemorative build from the show. NOT SURE when I will actually begin, but it is such a simple kit that I can take my time with some other projects in conjunction with this build.

A few things about the kit from my perspective and reviews by others:

1. Well detailed and very few parts that reportedly fit together with no issues.
Having stated that, every modeler who has built the kit points to the need for filling
seams and gaps between the sub assemblies. Therefore the basic plan will be to
assemble the entire figure, then fill, sand, scribe, and paint.
2. The kit does not recommend specific colors by any particular manufacturer, and
the suggestions by other modelers is varied. There are some great tips in the instructions
for weathering. They are worth a read/consideration.
3. The base is nice, but might be added to? Still thinking about that.
4. There is a lighting kit available [according to reviews], but I have not been able to find
one yet. Hmmmm.....I will consider lighting and depending on cost, etc., it could be a
    nice addition.
5. The instructions are a single "brochure" foldout that could be a city guide or advertising
for most any product. Easy to follow, clear, etc. The back of the instructions are a painting
    guide. No decals of course.
6. Mobeius has a good reputation and their boxes usually have art front and back.

Thanks! Indeed, the finishing will be the challenge. There are all the movies and a million pictures. No escaping judgement for what you do.

AHHHH........I forgot, as I almost always do, the reviews I read about this kit were mostly from when the kit was New-ISH. 2011? So since then the molds are maybe a bit softer now. So each piece needs a bit of sanding and inspection. However--the parts do snap together snugly. There will be some seam work after I assemble each section.

Head and arms complete, I was able to move along a bit faster once I had acquainted myself with the interlocking engineering. Lower body is joined with upper body by two "body" halves, Then there is a front and back chest piece, and finally--armor pieces on each shoulder and under each armpit on the sides. Now that I have the body complete, it is time to sand down burrs, fix seams, and fill gaps.

I have not even thought about colors really, but I most likely will have to order some paint, particularly the  gold. I don't think I have any on hand?

Alain, thank you! I am sitting here sanding away right now. Not very exciting but necessary. I searched the net for pictures as a guide to the joints under iron mans arm/side but it is difficult to see. I will be loading one picture which I think helps some. You have a good weekend also my friend.

Hi Ted,

Thats a really cool subject and your progress is great in such a short time. Even with this amount of parts! Love to see your paint job. I think Vallejo has a great gold colour in their Metal Color range.

Have fun with the next steps!

Great progress Ted [thumb]

Can't really advise on the gaps as I've never built one of these models before, your build has piqued my interest though and one or two will be added to my wish list.

Thank you Geoff. Truthfully, I tend to not be a rivet counter than agonizes over certain details, colors, etc. I believe enjoying the modeling is the most important thing.

I have a LOT of styrene sheets that I bought before the LHS [Local Hobby Store] closed. I can cut small pieces to cover the jointed sections. A picture will be easier to understand. That will be up asap.

Thank you REMY! I'll take a look at the Vallego metal color range. Just might be the beans.
