Bought some of the new Vallejo Metal Color last weekend. These are acrylic metal colors, so no unicorn :-). I tried them out on this little bird and... very pleased with the result. And as a bonus no bad smell and easy to clean the AB. They passed the test to get used on the Phantom so far. But first I will mask them for spraying the egg-yellow... Fingers crossed the paint can handle Tamiya tape :-/

Those are the colors I used:

Me happy ;-)

You should do that Ted. This kit is a very nice distraction next to bigger projects (as if there a not enough distractions already, lol). I enjoy building it a lot. This won't be the last egg for me, need at least a pair:-)

That metal color looks really nice. I just saw Bobby's review on it and it seems they are pretty good. Might have to pick up a set.

if nothing else, they are much easier to work with than the enamel versions.

Haha brilliant for a moment there I thought I was going to be the only Eggy Fighter [biggrin]

Very cute though, looks very complex next to my Zero with only 17 parts !

Haha, no unicorns, sorry mate :-).
Yeah, this build is very complex, definitely not suited for beginners. Involves a huge amount of planing, sanding, scratch building... you really have to study the paperwork that comes with it intensely... ;-) Pure fun to build!

You should do that. Pretty sure your grandchildren would love them. The kit are small but quite sturdy, good to play with... proof?

TestFlight, most important part of the build :-)

As you can see I finished the painting stage. A little fiddling for masking but no major problems. Also got the decals on. They are a little on the thick side but conformed quit nice with micro set and sol. Sorry about the missing pictures. Got caught in the build and simply forgot to take some...

The little pieces are mostly hand painted. And yes, Hasegawa is providing some weapons with this kit :-). The black stripes on the rockets are done with a fine liner. Not the most precise work but didn't even bother try masking them. Looks okay to me.

Almost done, a little weathering and a flat coat in the weekend and start thinking what to do with this little cutie :-)
Thanks for watching!
