Another step today. The nice smooth Flat Black on the chassis and body of the Batmobile was nice, TOO nice. Not at all like a car that has been derelict and sitting out in the weather for years. In an attempt to add some texture to the paint job I took a very cheap plastic paint brush and dotted it all over the interior section of the chassis and body. I like what happened with the finish. Now I have surfaces that will be easy to rub powders into and make any liquids run over the surface in an irregular pattern. See the pictures below. Flat black rattle can with flat back and Tamiya paint applied with a cheap brush.

Really loving your progress so far. Looking forward to see it completed. Great touch the JOKER sign on the hood.
Such a shame to hear about your spinal injurie. Hope all goes well soon and you have fun building!

remy,

Thank you for the kind comments. I am doing better with my level of pain. I can walk about 100 feet before I have to use some kind of aid. Thing is.....I can drive and I can STILL walk and get around. I am so much better off than many many others.

Bit of progress this evening. I determined that all chrome parts should be faded and dimmed down. I used Vallego silver and painted everything that was chrome. Rust and dust and grime , etc will be over all the paint, but will be the heaviest in the old chrome/silver areas as well as body sections where damage and bullet holes are evident. Most of the white paint in the "JOKER" hood marking will be tainted with rust and dust also.

[44917873104_1c7a54fdb5_k]junkyard batmobile details by teddy ladd, on Flickr

The beginning of the desolation of the Junkyard Batmobile. I sliced the tape that was placed in the seats and the floor of the interior and pulled up corners. This will be repainted flat black and then have "padding" attached = rips in the seat cover and floor board carpet. Chain and fine fine copper wire are next in line for some details. The broken dash is ready, and the rear window has bullet holes and cracks in the glass. I also sanded much of the dry brush silver off to mute the exposed metal of the body and get ready for rust and dust.

Nice! Love the idea of using tape to create the worn look of the seats. Will try that one too some time!

Thanks Remy,
I come from multimedia art background so I am always looking at all kinds of materials and asking myself what I could do with that. Years ago I used chicken wire and package paper to simulate a large rock for a stage drama. Crumpled the paper and then opened it up and fastened it on the chicken wire frame. Spray paint across the wrinkles with various "rock" colors and it looked pretty real under theater lighting.

actually got some bench time yesterday so a few pictures in  order. Solder, copper wire from a phone cable, and some greeblies from one of my stashes. Hopefully when finished it will imitate wiring and small components associated with a stripped and abandoned Batmobile. More later. Thanksgiving this week so cooking and family in my immediate future. Cheers.

Beginning to move toward finishing this project. Started the base today and also laid down the first washes of rust and grime on the Batmobile.
