So in case you've noticed this is NOT an E-2C Hawkeye..[confused] The best deal I could find with this kit was on EBay and it would not arrive until sometime mid September which would be really crunching it so this kit is off the table. Instead I'm doing the Sister ship of the AH-1Z "Viper" I just recently finished the UH-1Y "Venom". There is a back story to one of the optional schemes, the one I'm doing, the #06 craft. Kitty Hawk included this scheme as a memorial of the ship that crashed and killed 2 Marines in the HMLA-169 Unit on January 23 of this year Maj. Elizabeth R Kealey Call sign "Peaches" and Capt. Adam C. Satterfield Call Sign " Chief". They Crashed during a training exercise. May we always honor those that have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country. So here are the Sprue and bits and bobs of this very nice kit.

Box Art

Schemes with the one I'm doing first

The others

sprues

Clear parts looking good

Decals, PE

And some close-up's for detail

That's it ! will be starting as soon as I finish posting this so see ya'll in the updates

Cheers!

can't wait to see your skills bring this to life! looks like a very nice kit. I don't know anything about the kitty Hawk Kits. DO they compare to another manufacturer in particular? thanks.

Sorry Ted I didn't see your question. Well Kitty hawk stands out on it's own and it's really hit or miss with these guys but the last few kits they've done have been really nice and have gone together without a hitch. You just have to do a little research to see if there are any reviews about to see if a certain kit builds up nice without problems.

Update: Instructions Page 2 and 3

Working on all the cabin parts

Floor with the center console glued in. IP, control sticks and collectives.

Close ups of the center console and IP

Pilots and copilots seats going together. was a bit fiddly with the frames but all came together in the end

Frame placed on floor so it will dry in the right position

Both done WHEW!

Having a look at the ip and frames together

Pilot and copilots seats going together. The side armor had an ejector pin mark that had to go, it wasn't bad just a lil sanding and it disappeared

Both done

Time to tackle all the crew seats

Done!

Don't know what the technical name for this box is but it's where the crew seats mount.

Then the 2 breaker boxes? and the frame that goes on front

So everything done and ready to paint

should have it painted and assembled by end of today hopefully [wink]

Cheers!

Small update:

Just a couple of pics to show where I'm at. Nothing is glued in yet just dry fitted. Plus need to get the PE on(seatbelts)

Much more to do!

Cheers!

Thanks Neil! I have the Viper in my stash and I agree that the venom would look great along side of it. good thing my stash shelf is totally packed with not room for one more kit. Thats how I am controlling my lust for styrene for now---plus my empty coffers help control it also!

That is an AWESOME WIP thread Neil. I feel like I have the model on the bench in front of me. your photography is perfect, not only the exposure factors, but the composition and angles, etc. very well done. your work is exceptionally neat and easy to follow. thank you so much!
