Some scratch building with the cutest family in the world using kitchen junk like bottles and cartons and plastic cups etc.

Was great fun and at points total chaos but was great seeing them enjoying doing something creative and a bit different :)
... and yes we all took the spaceships for a fly around the living room haha [biggrin]

They said they wanted to join in here on the GB too,
so meet Tegun and Cole (aged 7 & 6 )
They are just too cute hey, they really are a lovely family to have as neighbours [smile]

Had a little play myself too so I could see what could be done with the paints and pens, I had notions about introducing some simple preshading and blaster marks etc. but I was not quite ready for the chaos of it, next time I'll know better.

I spent some time preparing a few ideas and working out a few stencils etc. just to help speed things up a little for them. I also knocked up a couple of preprimed ones so they didn't have to wait for the white paint to dry on theirs, so when they painted their ones white they could have something to colour in immediately and all that :)

You can tell who the sensible one is [smile]

They both did great though and did most of the building themselves.
Nice that they had some ideas of their own they wanted to do as well.
Tegun wanted to some wingy bits and Cole wanted the wings swept back not forward etc.
which I thought was awesome to see them making design decisions like that [smile]

Cole, the young lad, had a habit of using paint brushes like scrubbing brushes but with a little help from mum too he was getting it :D

Great fun all round though and I thought the kids done good !
Especially nice they enjoyed it and want to do more,
They might even have something ready for a final reveal at some point
A really lovely family and wonderful neighbours and was a fun and highly amusing afternoon :)

thanks for posting this Paul---its always good to see children enjoying something hands on instead of drooling in front of a video game? We may well be seeing a preview to some aerospace engineers or astronauts.....think about that.

Haha, how awesome would that be if they became aerospace engineers or astronauts !
Although, Tegun is getting quite good on the violin now so I can imagine her
becoming a musician but hey she might end up with another cool hobby [biggrin]

Their parents are pretty good about not spending too much time in front of the TV box
but great to see them wanting to make stuff [smile]

Hahahaha that's awesome Paul !

Margerine tub moon lander was always going to be a fantastic idea and I'm really pleased to see it come into action.

It's great to see the kids using their imaginations like this and looks like they got right into,it as the results looks brilliant.

This was the kind of thing I used to do at their age ( and still do if I get the chance lol ) and when my kids were younger we built all kinds of things out of empty pop bottles and yoghurt cartons.

This kind of activity is taking a hit due to all of the other things that kids have available to keep them occupied these days. And there's nothing wrong with that as its only natural every generation will take advantage of the latest tech that comes their way. It's just seeing this takes me back to happy times sitting at the kitchen table getting white glue, sellotape and poster paint all over the place

Brilliant just brilliant

Great to see kids getting creative...and parents more importantly.
This reminds me a bit of my childhood with my grandad, I would always want to build something usually involving wood and nails, planes, sledges and go carts (soap box style)...may be why I got into Carpentry when I left school!

haha yeah you gotta spread the love for being creative [biggrin]

For me it was construction toys like Meccano and technical Lego etc. and then wood work later,

I had a feeling Jas you might have been something like a carpenter or a metal worker or something like that [wink]

Yeah Pete, Margarine Moon Tubs was always gonna be on the cards, it was great the kids were so into though,
they telling me want they want to build next which was awesome [biggrin]

I reckon though using just domestic junk, model kits or grebblies from kits, or any after market resin & PE,
just domestic junk and paint them with all the nice paints etc. and maybe allow decals too...
I reckon one could do some good work, would be an interesting SIG challenge I reckon [smile]

Perhaps a wee SIG later in the year ? [biggrin]
