Hello everyone guys,,finally i have found some free time and decide to enter on this GB,,the kit is the Mig-17,,Beautiful small aircraft but not the best choice of kit,,i think MisterCraft it's a SMER kit,,which means not the best kit in the world.. fit problems and pretty basic detail..but ,,it is what it is,, and i decide to build this among others because 1st ,i wanted a quick build (not much free time) 2nd its my first try to paint an aircraft as natural metal finish and 3d,,it's cheap so if my paintwork goes wrong i will not feel sorry if i throw it on the bin,,..so i'm gonna concetrate more on the paint and less on the interrior..but in anyway i will do my best to make it look nice in and out,, and warn metal at the end,,otherwise the trash bin is waitng and feels hungry..Anyway let's have some fun,, Soon i will show you the first photos of the build,,not much just the basic,,,

SUBSCRIBED. Good luck with a less than fabulous kit. I struggled with two kits molded in 1976 and I'm working on one now molded in 1956. Sometimes the challenge is a good thing?

Ted and Gadjung thank you for your comments,Yes Ted you are so right, challenge some times is a good thing,,So let's see if we can turn an old pig into a beauty,, Small progress today..some main parts has been assembled and some other parts dryfitted to see how this old pig went together,,,.Conclusion,,, welll so and so..as you can see bellow, the cockpit is very basic not much detail on it,,but it is what it is. The only thing i did so far is to drill some holes on the instrument panel so later to put the decal on the back and make it look a bit better ,,,,The two halves of both wings glued together very nicely,,and wheel bays painted,,surprisingly there is some nice detail inside of the bays. The two halves of the fuselage dryfitted and looks very promising also,,same with the tail section,,nice fit there also, but when i try to attach and testfit the wings on the fuselage i saw a huge gap like the Grand Canyon and the alignment between wings and fuselage are completely disaster,,Anyway i think i have to do lot of work with putty and sanding on those parts to make it look right. So next step is to paint the cockpit and glue some things together..That's all for now guys,, not much to see just a few photos of the progress,,see you soon.

Looking at the detail on the surface of the kit and in the wheel wells and even in the cockpit [including what you did with the IP] actually looks exciting! painted up and weathered I think this kit is going to be a gem representing an ICONIC aircraft. Seriously! So glad you joined the GB. There is going to be a great lineup of Russian jets along their production line. Awesome.

Looking good so far, I have a hobby boss 17 in the stash I'm always tempted to start but fit issues make me pick up another kit until I have the patience. Look forward to the progress shots!

Thank you guys for your kind comments,,Ted yes the detail and panel lines are very good actually and pleasant surprise,,at least i dont need to rescribe anything..until starting to sand the huge amount of putty between the wings and fuselage,,,, ..Gnarkill.. i must say that Hobby Boss Mig-17 is a miles away better kit than Smer or Mistercraft, so go for it.. I forgot to mention that i had to sand and polish the fuselage the wings and the tail because the surface of the plastic it was very rough,,so i have try to make it as smooth as possible,See you soon guys thanks.

Thank you Thatmas... Ok,, hello guys some small progress after almost a month,, i managed to finish the cockpit,,nothing to fancy but i think it loos ok,,(besides my main target is to achive a good result on the metal finish at the end),,,so we will see..,I did some paintwork and weathering in the cockpit and added some wires here and there just to make it look a bit better,Also you can se the drilled holes on the instrument panels and the instument decals on the back,,(rubbish instruments decals but,,it is what it is..),Now its time to work the fuselage and the wings,, this is where the hard part begins..I hope you like it,

Hello all guys and thank you for your kind comments, i am pushing hard now to finish the Mig,,all small pieces cockpit ,exhaust etc glued into the fuselage and the two halves ,the wing and the tail glued together, this was the easy part,,So when the glue has been cured the sanding - filler story has begun and sanded again and again and again,,Lot of nasty gaps between wing roots, tail section nose and two halves,,required hours of filling and sandind,,but thankfully the result was nice, after all this adventure of sanding,,the model has been sprayed in black and now we are ready to play with various tones of aluminium,,i hope you like it,stay tuned we getting close to the end, And here is the black beauty,,,,
