I think the pf is the only one without the side opening ... at least on Eduard aftermarket stuff. eitherway im sure it would be fine just build it and have a grand time

if I can make or acquire a side opening canopy then great
and if it doesn't happen then no worries, but I would like it a bit accurate to the scheme if I can [smile]

also have to fashion a second pair of wing pylons from the spares

Haha, that canopy on ebay is awesome !
if I were a rich man [biggrin]
I would like an ejector seat converted into an office chair [smile]

Found a review of it and no, the glass aint include, oh well, like you say, quite pricey, nice but pricey.
One feature of that set I do like is the PE rails and placards etc.

Chop down that PF Nutta. Located your thread and while reading pages i got i feeling that this is the references section that all people post. HEHE nice collaboration.

PF is my favorite because of Vietnam and Egypt options. In 1/72 is rare to find a proper (fujimi) kit.

For your canopy leave it as it is and make a PF [smile] Is more rare as model build to see and more accurate to leave it as it is, because PF has different FIN (vertical stabilizer with no drag chute) [wink]

But maybe in some Air forces, perhaps Egypt, they retro fitted the side opening canopy, i need to check that if you want.

For more confusion , Mig-21PF can have a drag chute retro fitted as i mentioned above or it might be a later Mig-21PF - in other words a Mig-21PFS or Mig-21FL [smile]

Quote:
main types run f, f13, pf, pfm, u, um, sm/m, m/sm, mf, smt,bis lazur, bis sau. other designations are test, export or foreign maunufacture codes or  ones with very slight changes.

The pfs was half way between a pf and full pfm, it had the newer tail and chute and blown flaps. the fl was export only and was a downgraded pf with normal flaps but the newer tail/chute.

there are crossover versions as well. the update process was continuous and earlier versions were sometimes retrofitted with partial updates to confuse everyone. grrrrrrrrrr. of note some very late pf's had the updated tail/chute arrangement and there was even an interim tail design too. grrrrrrrrrr again.

Somebody who knows there Mig 21's !!!...... Sweet ! [biggrin]

Seems I had also missed the drogue chute pod as well ...

apart from the different tail pod, the side opening canopy, the extra wing pylons, the ejector seat  and the cockpit interior green colour ....
the PF and the PFM are the same [biggrin]

So, I am wondering what's my best chance of getting to a camo scheme ?
if some of the PF's were still being used towards the later stages of the Nam war there is half a chance that they might have used a camo scheme, maybe ?

Or do I need to make a movie using a Mig21 PF painted up like a PFM and then say the scheme I'm using is a "Movie Reference Based" model ! haha [biggrin] [biggrin] [biggrin]

Thanks for the great links btw ! much appreciated, as is your input [smile]
if you have any suggestions on a legitimate camo scheme for a PF that would be sweet [smile]

Good morning [smile]

Actually yes you could do anything with the mig a make a story [tongue]

Does the GB requires the model to have a RED stars if not we would have more options. I will search tonight after work.

I think a Red Star would be needed for this GB, as it started off as a Red Russian build proposal.

to clarify [biggrin]

for the GB it's either got to have Russian colours like the Spitfires and Airocpbras used during WW2

-and / or -

be designed by Russians if you want to use other colour schemes,
even foreign built Russian designs are fine too like the Chinese stuff,
or foreign designs built by Russians is all good too [smile]
As long as there is a genuine link to Russia it's all good [biggrin]

so the Nam scheme is fine on a Mig  [smile]

Just been going through Bobby's video build of his Eduard Mig21 and I find myself desiring a camo scheme [smile]
I really do like the Red Nosed 51 scheme though, at least it is in the realms of plausible [biggrin]

Hopefully Prototype 23 might come back with some nice surprise options on schemes [smile]
but perhaps Mr Mojo Rising says the Red Bus is calling us [smile]
as opposed to the blue bus calling us [wink] [biggrin]
