wow the engine scratch build is really adding so much detail I expect you to fire it up and take off. I'm no reference in particular for a cracked leather effect but I do know that if you layer on multiple thin coats of paint before the other coat has time to dry, you may get a crackling effect? I've sen that done on antiques before. there are also "crackling" paint kits that you might find at a paint store/home store. Maybe try it o a scrap piece of styrene first of course. here is a video that may help? she puts glue down first, then a thin crumpled tissue, then the paint over that. I've seen white glue used for this type project. I think that you can get a "regular" leather texture with just the glue and paint applied over it before the glue drys. who knows, I may take a run at creating the effect cause now I am really curious!!!
the images on this link may lead you to lots of info about creating cracked leather ?--when you click on a picture, you can then go to the page where the image came from...good luck. https://www.google.com/search?q=cracked+leather+paint+effect&client=firefox-a&hs=uX3&rls=org.mozilla:en-US fficial&channel=np&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=SZIGVPXmJpawyATRmIHoCQ&ved=0CD0QsAQ&biw=1920&bih=920

Try spraying acrylic top coat on enamel base coat, the cracked effect is achieved by using two mediums of different drying times, or you can buy the crackle glaze Gra

Glad you're all liking it I must admit it seems to be going quite well so I am worried I will have some irreparable catastrophe with it soon. Ted that video is very interesting lots of info there. Thanks

I love the details you have added. That dashboard is top notch! The scratch built Tool Box is a perfect addition! Will there be a Peg Board too?

Thanks I think it will not sure yet I want the car to be the main part of the dio so I don't want too much detail in the garage so that it takes over. I have a battered old Tbird for the mechanics to be working on but I want the Packard to be the star of the show.

The layout for the diorama looks great, the mechanic talking to the lady reminds of an old joke
Lady " what do you thinks wrong with it ?"
Mechanic "just crap in the carburetor"
Lady " oh ! How often do I have to do that ?"
Pete
Thank you ladies and gentleman I'm here all week, don't forget to try the meatloaf !
