Really? I dropped your name in the Armor section over there in a thread about smoke/fire effects and there are several people backing me up on that. If you don't believe me go see for yourself.  [smile]

I don't know why you can't believe it. You have made some of the most convincing smoke/fire effects most of us have ever seen. True story, Brah.  [smile]

Hi all well  I dont like Tamiya decals, they are so fragile, and whats the point of seperate white decals under the coloured ones. Need to order some more 1/48 spit decals ruined the ones from the kit.

Those look great Ken. Wheels up or down decided yet?

Those decals look horrible, but it looks like you have them sorted out. Did you replace them or do some paint repairs?

I cut up some other decals from the spares drawer and patched the holes with them.

Clever. I would've set myself to the task of color matching those. A slow process.

You've got to be the most ingenious guy here sometimes Ken. [biggrin]

Well much as I love tamiyas 1/6 bikes (and I do love them) I will never buy another Tamiya plane (I think I will have to give up on their decals and buy some other manufacturers (assuming they do the same markings)) the decals have fought me all the way, breaking up, not sticking, I just hate them, the bike decals seem fine. It's a shame as the kits go together really well.
I know some of you will say now you know why not buy decals when you buy the kit, well unless I want different markings to the one in the kit I don't see why I should pay again for ones that are in the kit.

I'll have to write up a proper tutorial on how to use the liquid glue trick. It's a scary process when you first see it in action and it requires massive patience. But it will tame the toughest decals and make them stick.

But I understand why you would not want to use them because of they are thick. I wouldn't give up on their kits quite yet mate. There are solutions to that problem that won't cost you extra money. [smile]

Other than the decals, the paint looks great Ken.  [biggrin]

Hi all well I'm calling the spits finished(yes I know they are total rubbish but just thought I would post them to prove I've finished them) I'm glad my boss knows less about planes than I do.

But they look good! The canopy frosting is easily fixed Ken. If you have any gloss you just need to run some very thinned down gloss over them and they'll be clear again. I had to do that with my Corsair.

I disagree with you. I don't think they look like rubbish at all.

Most impressive! can't wait to see the finals. sorry you had so much trouble with the decals. A guy at the scale model club I attend only builds Tamiya kits, but he always replaces the decals. go figure.
