Did it work on Nagash, well yes it did.

I'm pleased with that, a little selective drybrushing to dull the black to finish.

I've also switched to a Blue for the armour, which looks better. Highlights and deep shading is going to take some time but will be worth it.

Fingers crossed (as always).

Latest photos, while I take a break and clean a few of my brushes.

Highlighted armour, lightened the bone, painted the rivets with straight silver on a cocktail stick, and added the gold.
Leaving this to dry for a while.

Thought I would take this opportunity to show you some of the additional items that need painting.
First is the Book of Nagash (very important Tome) ..

Second is the sword ..

The shoulder pads for the armour ..

A belt attachment ..

and finally his bacpack (?) ..

I still have loads more to cut off the sprues.

Phew.

Absolutely fantastic work !

I really like the stiches on the abdomen, I hadn't spotted those before and the way the bone blends into the gold on the knee pad is very impressive

I can't wait to see what you do with the book (the hand bookmark is great) and the rest of those pieces

I'm finding this very inspiring mate

Great paint work. The entire kit has such amazing detail. All the line look so crisp and sharp. Does'nt look like he will be keeping his peanut butter sandwiches and blackcurrant fruit shoot in his backpack though.
keep up the amazing work.

Thanks gents.

The book is going to be interesting, it has an additional page which has a face pushing out of the page. Eerie!

I've been putting some of the parts together just to see how this is going to look.

Wow that's tall and I still have the very large cloak tails to construct.

The book is a bit like the necronomicon book of the dead from the film The Evil Dead.
     Amazing paint work.

The Books of Nagash are just that only it's a set of 9 books.

All the Books will be on the model surrounded by spirit Wraiths. Thankfully the only one that is open is in his right hand. Should have fun painting in the words on the pages, although I'm thinking of using some spare weapon stencils from the Phantom Decal sheet [wink][crazy]

Had this idea, at work, about what colours to use for the Book of Nagash. I wanted it to look old like parchment. So I scibbled some ideas, whilst the rest of Dublin got drunk (any excuse for a drink).
So just before I go to sleep I thought I would try it out.

This is the result...

You can almost smell the age of the pages (or have those sprouts decided to react with my stomach) [wink]

Great work Nigel. I like the effect of writing and drawn pictures on the pages. Brilliant effect.

The Book is now in place in the hands of Nagash. The cover is made from various human skins all stitched together. Stitching was painted khaki and recessed with burnt umber wash/ink.

Quite difficult to photograph but I think you get the idea.

That does look good !
As simon said it reminds me of the book from the evil dead, you have really nailed the look of aged paper, and it really looks like it's bound in leathery skin

Brilliant work Nigel

Thanks for your kind words, glad that you like it.

Just based the bone on the sword and shoulder pad. The scabbard of the sword is made of flesh so I have to be careful how I shade this, I don't want it to look like bone.

This model just keeps growing. I cleaned and constructed the skirt (!) But have had to keep them in three parts so they can be attached to the waist. This took me hours to do, anyone fancy having a go at a bit of painting ? It's going to be primed in grey and white, all will become obvious as the painting starts.

Not a job for the faint hearted, and there is still more to be attached !
