Well SyFy huh.....hummmm.....not usually my subject matter here but what the heck. It's always good to challenge yourself, right? At this point I don't have a kit to present, and I'm actually thinking of going after the most creative on this one. Though I'm still trying to figure out what my plan will be. At this stage I'm thinking a fusion between military aircraft and aliens.......wait.....I think I just thought of something!! Something to do with the Bermuda Triangle. Yeah, I like that!

Anyhow, I'm narrowing it down, and get my build underway. I may keep it a secret until revealing later in the year. For now, count Scottabe in this GB. I can feel the creative juices bubbling now. Awesome!!!

I think being too secretive deprives you of other people's input [wink]
You may as well lay your cards on the table as bouncing ideas
off other people is where all the best ideas are [smile]

Just saying, it might be a competition but it can still be a team event too [biggrin]

What about some of the secret Nazi weapons that were never built ?
Some of those were pretty sci fi, the UFO especially [smile]
Just in case you want to keep your sci fi as real world as possible [biggrin]

Anyhow, whatever you choose I'm sure it will be awesome

Excellent point Choppa. I'm always up for ideas and I like your idea of nazi secret weapons. At the moment I'm thinking Bermuda Triangle Flight 19 theme with alien craft attacking one of the TBDs but I'm not 100% convinced on this one yet.

Yeah sounds cool, would be a unique piece that's for sure [smile]

Other ideas for themes spring to mind,
Roswell, Area 51 and all that are sort of real world Sci Fi too, as is the yeti and abominable snow man haha [biggrin]
and then there's the Sci Fi of ancient myths, giant squids attacking sailing ships or the aliens of stone henge &
Mayan temples. Dinosaurs of the lost world or King Kong. Scenes from Moon Raker, loads of themes out here
even Spitfires in space in one particularly desperate episode of Dr Who [smile]

Anyhow, I'm hoping you Break Bad and go scratch'n'bash you're own vehicle design, some kind of gunship or pod racer.
One idea I've been playing with is using a helicopter fuselage as the basis of Speeder Bike by turning it upside down
adding a saddle and some handle bars, change the fins, add some wheels/skids
and ta-da,
my 1/72 heli is a 1/24 Speeder bike [biggrin]
Loads of different helis would work with this basic template idea.

Here's my idea for a Jet Ranger Kiowa speeder bike, fins from a "recycled"
1/72 Harrier, this is a good way to do something with old models you're bored of [smile]

What I like about this kind of kit bashing is that it is cheap, get
a couple of small 1/72 kits and mash them together in cool ways,
like my wee (unfinished) Zelle Fire made from an Airfix 1/72 Gazelle
and Spitfire just to give you an idea, there's loads you can do within
this simple format of kit bashing of using just two kits together [smile]

Anyhow, what ever you build I'm sure it will be cool,
hope you like the ideas though, you are of course free to use,
copy, change any and all of them etc. [smile]

Wait...   Aren't the Nazi secret weapons (Like the Glocke - a.k.a the bell) or aircraft like the NASA Surveyor confirmed to exist?, they wouldn't be Sci-fi then huh?

Just sayin' but in any case, have fun with the build, can't wait to see what you come up with [smile]

haha Juanrmattos,

it's a good point but they did use a space shuttle in Moon Raker and that was pure
Science Fiction, they used F-18's in Independence day too, also the Nazi UFO never
flew, the engine was like something out of sci fi, plus ! [biggrin]

It's where Sci Fi kinda touches reality, Nazi UFO's are very much in the what if
category in terms of operational vehicles, plus it's cool and spacey and was the
basis of the Adamski Saucer, too another fictional reality [biggrin]

Vehicles like the above are the inspiration behind the achievements that inspire
sci fi, also such things are rarely modeled, few GB's could include it except Sci Fi.
Would be different, unique and a great contender for the "Goose" award [smile]

I think as long as it's either science or fiction or a space ship something, it's cool
We wouldn't want to exclude anybody would we now ...  [biggrin]

Sure thing Paul...   It was just something that crossed my mind while I was trying to come up with my own project (The definition of Sci-Fi though is rather different)...

No drama, like you say, is a group build and no one deserves to be left behind  [smile]

Sorry for the intrusion, carry on...

Hey Juan, I'm ever so sorry if I came across as busting balls,
that's my quirky sense of humour at work, plus I'm gifted at stating the obvious [biggrin]
You do make a good point and no, it aint an intrusion [smile]

I think these days sci Fi and real life are increasingly overlapping,
when I think Sci Fi I tend to include Fantasy stuff as well as the
more real world "Sci Fi",
Sci Fi (for me ) is the land of the imagination [smile]
I see mythology as the Sci Fi of the ancients
and by extension Fantasy stuff too [biggrin]

Anyhow Juan, hope to see you on the "Build Side of the Force" !! [biggrin]
got anything sweet planned for this GB ?

Im in I don't have pic of it but i will be doing the 1/48 Macross YF-19 lighting by Hasegawa

Had to order it from Japan i do not know why but no U.S. or Euro dealers carry those kit's
I figure ill have to wait nearly month to get it.

After seeing Bobby do his i have been wanting one one of those. and sense this a SyFy fantasy i figure that kit will qualify and i should be able to do what i want with it maybe a custom paint job who knows we will see.
