With the wallace and gromit bike nearly done and the phantom group build still over a week away, I have decided to build this, it's a kit I have wanted since it was released and I managed to get one from the new model shop in Swansea. I should be able to get it done in a week

This is what you get in the box, there is a shark cage and a diver included too, I have a really cool idea for displaying it as well, but for now I'm just going to build and paint it, as I have to figure out how to make the display work

The diver figure is made out of vinyl, and very nicely detailed, but like the vinyl the wallace and gromit kit is made of it doesn't like to be sanded, so seam lines need trimming with a scalpel

The body of the shark is a huge chunk of thick vinyl, the hole in the belly is for the stand, but I will be filling it in

The fins and a few other of the smaller parts along with the cage are moulded in regular styrene

The shark has a choice of two heads, this one is in an attacking pose

And this one with the mouth just slightly open, I haven't decided what one I'm going to use yet, they both need a fair bit of filling to blend the joins in so I will make up both heads , and see which one looks best

I'm hoping this will be a nice easy build, there is not too many parts, and not too many paint colours to use

I read where Roy Scheider ad-libbed that line and they left it in the movie--whatever, its one of my favs in that film.

Pete, why not make it a TWO headed shark??? kidding. the open mouth is gonna require more work?

The bigger boat quote is one of my faves in the movie too ! Along with the show me the way to go home scene, I must have seen that movie a hundred times and it still makes me jump lol. A two headed shark is a cool idea lol but it would try to eat itself lol

Lol the scar part is great ! It's testament to the director and cast that the film is as scary as it is when we all know it's a rubber shark lol, Spielberg really upped the tension didn't he, I love the movie Duel too ! (Looks on eBay for a truck model lol)

I made a start in this kit today, and ran straight into a problem ! The regulator that goes into the divers mouth was missing, before I got on all fours looking for it I checked the pics of the sprues that I posted on this thread a little while ago and it's missing on those, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't in the box. This is the part I need shown on the top left of the drawing

And this is what I've got ! Just a little bit of the hose, the round thing on the right that I thought was the regulator at first glance is in fact a lens for the divers camera

There no point I crying over spilt milk, so I'm going have to make something ! A quick google and I found this image

It's a simple shape to scratchbuild, I just need something circular and the right size, a quick hunt in the spares box and I found this

The bit at the end is perfect, a quick snip and I've got this, it just needs sanding down

I sanded it to size, drilled a hole in the back and glued in a bit of wire to fix it into the divers mouth, and added a resin fitting from a top studio set for 1/12 motogp bikes

I drilled a hole with a micro drill in the resin

And stripped the plastic from a bit of 0.6mm wire

A little dab of cyno, and the diver can breathe underwater lol !
