This will be a long term on and off project that I have no doubt will take a couple of years to complete. I have had the idea of this bouncing around in my head for a long time and for the past year and a half have been picking up suitable kits as I've come across them and I think I have enough in my stash to now make a start.

I'm planning to build a huge scene and it will eventually end up in the room down in the cellar that is in front of the Petecave. I'm guessing somewhere around 6 square meters will be the finished size and to make things easier I'm going to build it as modular tiles 1000mm X 1000mm using 12mm thick MDF.

At this stage I only have a rough idea of layout and will first concentrate on building a few vehicles and figures before I start the first tile.
The scale will mostly be 1/35, although I do have a few bits in 1/32 and I'm hoping the difference won't be too noticeable

I will be taking inspiration from The Walking dead along with the George Romero ( inspiration means shamelessly ripping off lol ) movies and have plans to put in a few homages to these as I go along.

Im not worrying about being accurate in anyway with this, I just want to capture a look and feel that pleases me. For example It will be set in the USA but if I have to use right hand drive vehicles or European buildings (if that's what's available to me) I'm ok with it.

I took some screen grabs from The walking dead and a couple of movies and will use these as reference to try and get the look

I have already started the first kit (Abrams tank) but will start a thread in the armour section and put a link here
Link to the Abrams build below
http://genessis-models.websitetoolbox.com/post/135-italeri-m1-abrams-7841313?trail=15#12

I want to put the tank in the middle of a city scene "a la the walking dead episode 1"

Kind of like this

And of course I will have a shed load of the undead all over the place too

I'll add pics and ideas on this thread as I go along and also please feel free to throw some ideas into the mix as all input is appreciated

Cheers Thomas I'm really happy to have you along for the ride buddy !

In the morning I'll post some pics of the kits that I have already stored away for this along with some of the ideas that I have.

I really need more figures, so will have to see what I can find going cheap on eBay and convert them into zombies

The tank IS a Chieftain, how did I miss that !

I like the colours it's wearing...they haven't altered it that much.

I didn't spot it wasn't an Abrams at the time it was on TV, I only found out when I was looking for references. Apparently if the movie doesn't show a credit thanking the US army or navy etc, then the chances are it's a tank or vehicle in disguise.

The war of the worlds remake had real Abrams in it according to online sources, I'll be keeping a keen eye out when I'm watching films and TV shows now to see if I can spot the stand ins lol

This Humvee was built a few years ago (and it's still not finished lol) I built it for my son along with a Huey and they were destined to be a small Afganistan diorama.

But now they will be press ganged into zombie diorama duty

The seats need to be made to look a little worn and the steering wheel needs fitting along with some details finishing inside

Looks too clean underneath but that's easily sorted. Note my early efforts with rust in the exhaust

And here's the Huey, it's not accurate to the scheme it's painted in as the version in the box depicted an earlier twin Huey. But my boy wanted a modern one so I used artistic license, I think it's just missing a disco light and a flir ( although the weapons are wrong too I think)
But none of this will matter in the brundlepocalypse

It's a fair size too, but small compared to the sea hawk I'm hoping to fit into the scene somewhere (I can see why my wife likes big choppers they are much more impressive in hand lol)

And this little gem was built and painted by no other than our very own Nigel56, who kindly sent it to me.

it's going to end up in a prime location on the diorama in its own little scene surrounded by zee's

It's really well detailed and finished

The weathering is awesome

Nigel even put red nail varnish on her

My pics don't do it justice, I just hope I can get close to this finish in my figures

Here she is with Abraham (from the McFarlane toys blind bag) the scale of him looks spot on to me

I'll try and get a few more of these figures, but they definitely need a repaint

And headless zombie woman makes an appearance

This pic shows me that a zombie diorama could look pretty cool, but I'm going to need hordes of zombies to get the look I'm after

I've dug out the rest of the kits that I've collected for this up to now, but I didn't have time to take pics.
I'm planning a "Pete day" in the cave tomorrow so I'll take some then

Cheers me dears
