I'm a bit confused,  is the idea that the model is a representation of a photo you have taken yourself as in the original post or of any photo you can find?

Geoff.

I was not 100% clear on which photo choice was being suggested. It would be easier to build a certain model and provide a background photo that makes the model look to scale. If you choose a photo of a real vehicle and replicate the photo, you are locked into that one vehicle. Diorama skills or the lack thereof might prohibit many members from participating. Maybe not? I would favor choosing a model, then finding a picture to go behind the finished build. Then you show the original photo, the final of the model separately, then the two combined. Now—photo skills may prohibit some from participating. There are things to consider besides just choosing a picture. The “lighting” in the picture may not match well with the lighting on your model. In that case you need an image editing software like photo shop or similar. Neither method would be straight forward . It all depends on some skills beyond just building and finishing a kit.

I was thinking any photo. It could be set up as a diorama or specifically a color scheme on a specific day. Some Aircraft looked brand new in a photo at the beginning of the tour and some had wings change or battle damage patched and a t the end of the tour looked completely different. It would not be limited to dioramas but merely need to match the photo either in condition of the vehicle or as a whole diorama in the photo.

Sounds flexible and that’s a good thing. My other question would be can it be done with an existing build or dies the model have to be something new? Questions questions.

Honestly, I’m interested in the idea but realistically once I finish Ironman in the current GB-Anything goes—I have got to finish another project on the shelf of doom.

I’ve been writing here just to help flesh out the idea. I hope that’s ok?
