I found it quite irritating moving decals and stencils in to place using toothpicks, brushes and finger tips. They just seem to be fiddly, wrinkling up and not end up exactly where they are ment to. Then I bought silicone rubber tipped paintbrushes at my lokal hobby store. They work like a treat and the brush is mooving te decals exactly like I want. Made my modelling life much easier.

I place the backing with decal to the side of its final destination. Then use a wet brush to slide the decal into position. Just a nudge with a wet brush & finished. I would be careful with anything hard as some decals are very fragile. Also ensure that you have a good covering of varnish. I make sure I have two coats which makes manouvering decals very easy. These are the brushes I´m using, specially the middle one who is extremely soft and I´ve never destroyed one decal using theese. The surface is clear coated with at least 3 thin coats of Pledge before placing decals. I only use a normal brush when i need to place the decals again if they moove after placement and then only to wet and loosen them. I used to place the decals with the brush as Laurie sugested but i find theese brushes much easier to handle and the decals are not damaged at all. When it comes to fluids I usually start out with Micro set and sol. If I need something stronger I use the MIG Decal Fix. I would´nt go for the stronger fluid at once since I´ve had decals wrinkling up to much and had to scrap them. Quite a pain.

OK. Will do. Maybe it works better than Micro Sol on those Tamiya decals that sometimes won’t react at all. Thank’s for the tip Gadjung!
