I guess most all of you gentlemen here are familiar with plastruct? they make all the extruded styrene products. they are mainly a supplier to the people who build architectural models for client presentation [and the railroad guys use a lot of their product]. they stumbled into the hobby modeling market way back and it has been a point of sales for them. I found myself needing some acrylic rod to mount my Phantom in flight and could not find any locally. I went to the plastruct website: http://www.plastruct.com/  [Nigel posted the link for Me--thanks Nigel!].

the online catalog is not the easiest and they are sort of behind in easy ordering IMHO.
they take snail mail orders [to each their own of course].

the site did not show me both dimensions of the product I needed and the links for their images were broken.

I called the company--they are located in Los Angeles, CA. The lady who answered the phone was very professional and polite. she did not know about the discrepancy's in the online site. I suggested that someone at the company review the site.

She took my order and sent it out today. no problems.

They do require a $20US min order and their most basic ground shipping is $9US a shot.

I could have probably found it cheaper? not a lot of companies will sell just "ONE" of an item like that though.I'm good with the purchase.

Good review Ted.

For those of you in England & Europe Plastruct products are available at the following sites:

http://www.hobbystores.co.uk

http://www.anticsonline.co.uk

Think that's all the bases covered. There's bound to be a supplier in China to cover Asian Countries.

ps (when did you buy your shares in the company Ted, got mine last year [wink])

My shares in plastruct? just bought 2 shares! probably be buying more at some point.

The local hobby shop owner told me he could have gotten the acrylic rods for $10US each and no shipping, but it might have been a month or more for them to arrive. He didn't tell me that when I called and asked if he carried the acrylic rod, and I did not ask even though he stocks plastruct products for railroading--oh well, lesson learned. Besides, now I own stock in plastruct!! LOL
