A little more done today

All of the figures uniforms got a coat of vallejo field blue, it's a good start but is a little bit grey for 1/32, I reckon it would be good to go straight out of the bottle for 1/48 scale though

I gave them a going over with vallejo blue wash, it is still very wet in the pic, but does dry a lot more subtle

When that had dried I started to block in the other colours, I've still got a long way to go, but not a lot of bench time at the moment, there's no rush though, softly softly catchy monkey

The life vests got a wash and I've started to paint in the details

I think the straps should be a bit lighter, I'm struggling to find the right colour these were base coated in khaki but it looks too dark, I will see how they look in daylight tomorrow and see if I can lighten them a bit

I'm going to add an oxygen hose to the mask, I've also noticed he has a really long neck lol

Pete,

those figures are outstanding and your paint work never fails! It is so helpful to have the details of how what why in your WIP threads--we owe you a big thank you!

anxious to see what all you do as you "limit" this build. I am going to limit my next WIP thread also! anyone up for a bet on either one of us?

Go for it!

This should be fun. [smile]

Pete, what colours did you use for the life preserver, particularly the wash.

The base colour was a citadel foundation paint (dark sun yellow ?) the wash is vallejo umber and I highlighted with varying mixes of the base colour and an old pot of citadel yellow with a bit of white

For this build I'm only going to limit myself to one squadron of spitfires, and I'm only going to model half of the English Channel

I'm still plugging away at the figures
Ginger is nearly done

The quality of the sculpting is really good

And squadron leader is nearly there

Again I'm really impressed with the details on these, they look nearly as good as some of the resin ones out there

Captain pipe smoker has now got a polka dot neck scarf "top ho !"

And round the back

The seated pilot got his gloves painted, not much more to do now, just boots and his head

and I've started painting Gingers neck gear, it justs needs a wash and drybrush
