Mig Eater......Like it.

Take note of that engine soot coming up from the exhaust along the tail base..a lot of people miss that bit of weathering.
It seems weird...it'spart of the braking.

ps. I always say if it looks okay on macro, then it looks great to the naked eye...

I read the story behind this plane, it was bombing a runway and one of the bombs took out a mig that was in the process of taking off , so it counted as a kill, I love the shark on the side of the nose with a Mig in its mouth lol, and look at the amount of mission markings ! It's got a really weather beaten look to it and I can't wait to try and have a go at it

It is weird how the soot ends up where it does , the thrust reversers open up on the tail and direct the jet blast forward to slow it down. I will try and get the look on mine (Alclad jet exhaust and a unicorn I reckon lol)

I have made a little bit more progress on the Tornado

I looked at a few pics of Tornado pilots to see if I could make my (USA pilots) loo a bit more like the real thing

The helmet shape is completely different as is the visor but there's not a lot I can do to change that on my figures

The face mask only covers the mouth and nose so I just painted a flesh colour to try and make it look a bit closer, I also went for grey on the helmet as there is a lot of green in the pilots suit and it helps break it up a bit, in most pics they are either green or grey

Then i added an o2 hose and a bit of 0.2mm wire to try and match the pic a little

It's not exactly the same but it's close enough for me

And glued onto his body and sat in the pit

It looks ok but you can see what I mean about the green in the flight suit

I didn't paint his boots as they can't be seen, the pilot in the front doesn't even have any feet lol !

The front seat guy has a little bit more detail and I gave him a "Tally Ho" moustache to make him look,a bit more RAF

Head attached to the body and bum glued firmly to the seat,
I carved the face mask off of a spare head and glued a hose on (not sure if they could fly like this but I like the look)

I dry fitted the pit into the nose and realised that I have glued the pilot a little out of position in the seat (a bit of a pain as I spent ages test fitting them)
I can't do a lot about it now as I used 2 part epoxy so he ain't shifting lol !

My concern was that his head would hit the canopy, so I clipped it off of the sprue and had a look.
No worries there is plenty of room

I added a bit of wire to the boxes that go between the pilots, I wasn't concerned about being accurate just wanted to busy it up

A quick coat of black

And after a bit of chipping and some pastel dust

And everything together

I'm glad the cockpit is out of the way and I'm hoping that the rest will go together quickly as I don't need to worry about landing gear ( fingers crossed the gear doors fit ok)

Cheers for checking in guys
