I’ve been missing all the great stuff you are doing here. Fantastic work and really cool to have your son help you. Is there anything LEGO does not make a kit for?

BTW, love to see your build. Never done a ship myself though. Have fun on this GB.

Thank you very much Remy!!
In modelling I love to try new things and use as many techniques and materials as possipbe.
Ships are somewhat different than planes (that I am used to building) and I  have limited experience.

So I proceed with a lot of research and experimentation.

Lego is just amazing. And combined with robotics offers children a window to the future.
BUT it is sooooo expensive to buy new kits.

I' am really glad you like my work. I am sure that everyone in this GB will deliver amazing work.

"Recently, the owner has stated he's prepared to sink the model permanently as it's weight and length means it will be currently unrecoverable once it's sunk. Interestingly according to the owner, there's a high chance the model could actually snap in 2 as the cement put into the Hull as ballast will easily snap the plastic"

Hahaha [biggrin]
Nice big model but this guy has to be thinking of making an iceberg as well surely ? [biggrin]

At last wood effect:

First wash with this brown oil:

and the result:

Second wash with yellow ochre oil :

and the result:

I think I like it.....

Step to follow: the painting of benches, winches and the superstructures.

But before adding any further paint job I will seal the oils with a gloss acrylic varnish.

That's it for today [rolleyes]

Wish you all a great new week !!!

Back to the Bench to proceed with the upper deck!!

First the painting of the benches and winches!

01b9fb1ffa9484ff39d68af10c904b815141f5307b.jpg

They got dry and glossed the paint job:

Next pin wash of the winches with paynes grey oil 019d7865db3c8408cf244cda1c941893dc411578bc.jpg

Shadow to the benches recesses and highlights to their peaks with one drop of white colour to the wood colour.
Finally dry brush  to the winches and here is the result:

Thank you very much Stathis.

I have always been fascinated with the Titanic.

I was fortunate enough to visit England back in the mid nineties.
We hit several great museums but one I REALLY enjoyed was the Maritine Museum. They had a huge replica model of the Titanic. Then I wandered
into a display of Titanic "personal effects" collection. Purses, eyeglasses, pens, combs, mirrors, money, chinaware, etc. As I pondered the items I
began to feel my chest tightening--more difficult to breathe, paranoia setting in. I left the exhibit quickly and went outside. Immediately I was fine.
Ive never forgotten that experience. Your build is special to me in light of that experience and reading I've done. its powerful history.
