One of the greatest draws of the Genessis site is the excellent community. They are always very positive and supporting in posting. Sometimes, I think a bit too much. Let me explain.

I also do photography as a hobby. the main site I visit has a forum called the Shark tank. In this form you post an image to be honestly critiqued. The rules of this form are that if you post on someones work, it has to be a serious critique and include ways to improve upon there work.  No posts that only have  "good job" are allowed. They all have to be a serious critique with ways to improve the photo.

I'd like something like this here. We have plenty of forums here for people to post their models and get a lot of "great work" feedback. I however would like the feedback from the high quality modelers here on how I could take the next step forward.

The trick that really makes forums like this work are people giving a real critique, without being too negative or people getting their feelings hurt.

One other thing, in case the forum idea doesn't pan out, also from photography [smile] There are professional that let you submit your work, and give you private feedback to improve on your work, for a fee of course. Maybe Bobby can look into what it would take to setup this service? pay a fee to have him professional review a model and give feedback on what to improve ?

Thoughts?

I like this idea and is similar to a suggestion I made here, the conversation that followed
is pertinent to you suggestion I feel.

Basically I suggested that as part of the Group Build one of the prizes was a
professional constructive critique, Bobbies Booby Prize as it were [smile]

I like the idea, Critique should be constructive. Could be good to even learn more.

I recently posted my experience with Photo Sig when I was doing photography --11 Years total. Their forum was divided into comments [good job] and critique [only thing I see is a need for a bit more light] and "Serious Critique"--they pull your jaws apart until they break and yank your guts out in one swift move [kidding of course but that section was very very honest].

Overall it was a good site if you wanted any critique at all, but it did require developing a "skin" that could take the serious critiques. I would submit to that type of critique on Genessis if it were done privately rather than in an open forum. Trust me--if you do serious critique in open forums, the site may well suffer.None the less, to advance and improve [which equals more success and satisfaction in the long run], serious critique is the way to go. It would require a fair amount of time for all parties involved---not sure Bobby can stretch any further?

Good topic for consideration.

Ted,
I also got the idea from Photography and realize what a slippery slope it can be. It of course would be voluntary to post, people should know what they are getting into, but it would also have to be heavily policed by the community.  I like the Genessis community and think they would handle it fine, however this is also why I suggested maybe private critiques (paid for) from Bobby might be the way to to go.

For me, I just know the only way I ever get better at something is blunt, honest assessments.

Paul,
I just saw your post, shall we chalk it up to "great minds think alike" or "fools seldom differ"? [smile]

if this was a prize form a GB, it should goto either the worst entry, or the modeler that looks really to take that next big step. aka, someone that needs it the most [smile]

haha, quite possibly, I'm clever enough to know how stupid I am so perhaps it's fools thinks alike and great minds seldom differ [biggrin]

anyhow, you've got the thrust of my intent, ie choosing the person who has the most to gain, which aint necessarily the worst entrant, as you so eruditely point out [smile]

did you have a look at the link ? [smile]
