Genessis-Models Edit End ------

I have purchased dozens of items of all sorts from Squadron for several years. They have great prices and almost continuous sales. The range of products available is quite good. The prices are competitive with all of the other online retailers. As my closest hobby shop is about 90 miles away, having items shipped is less expensive than driving to the store. Squadron ships very quickly and does a fine job of packaging the items. They are located near Dallas, Texas.

Unfortunately despite their great prices, the cost of postage make Squadron a no go I'm afraid. eg

Am I right in assuming that you tried to get this order shipped to the British Isles?
But even so, that is quite excessive. Did you order with the option "yesterday delivery?" [smile]
Something in the area of 15-20 USD would have been "reasonable" I guess but that.... leaves me to wonder if they have a bug in their IT systems, or elsewhere.

Hobby Boss 1/48 A-6A $53.19.......excellent price..  However, shipping to Canada is $45.95 (only one shipping option available)..... Enough said.  I live only a 2 hour drive from the USA border.  The international shipping rates from Squadron no longer make them a viable place to shop.....  It is a shame...  Their international shipping rates took a big over a year ago.  Prior to that they were reasonable.

Just checked them out, and the prices are good, but that shipping. Even in the US it's priced based, and goes from $10 up to $89.99 then up to $15 up to $149.99. What would be really sad, if it wasn't for how shipping rates work, is that I'm less than 4 hours away from them. After a quick browse I also noticed that in the sections I was looking at, almost half of the kits, tools etc. were out of stock. Though it looks like they just finished a pretty nice sale, so that could be the cause. I'll add this to my comparison shopping though. Never can have too many sites to compare prices when buying something.

Postage & shipping. Bane of my life.

Had one delivery from England to Ireland and was very high. When I checked the postage on the package it was less than half the price they charged. I complained and got nowhere. As it was on eBay I gave a negative feedback, they were furious and demanded I remove the feedback. Needless to say I did not.
As it went to dispute with eBay I asked them to produce a copy of the postage receipt. They could not. My last words to them was that they were rip off merchants.

Now I ask companies to justify the postage, if they cannot I inform them that I will take my business elsewhere. 9 out of 10 usually get back to me and offer a lower price, and inform me that there must be a glitch in the ordering program on their computer. Yeah, right!

Pull the other leg...It's got bells on it.

I'm not sure about their international shipping, but their US shipping is through fedex which can be on the expensive side. There are some places that offer free shipping on larger orders, but they probably have the cost for that built into the price of their merchandise. Squadron might just charge less for their merchandise, and charge the full price for shipping. It looks like you can call up to order over the phone as well, so I'm sure that they could give you shipping based on weight and size instead of the estimate their site does based on cost.

Figured I'd go ahead and give them a try (finding the kit for half off didn't hurt that decision.). Ordered an a-6e and it was under $50 (compared to around $90 I was seeing at other sites). Ordered it wednesday night, and this showed up at my door this morning.

Not sure if it's just because I'm in houston and they are in dallas, but $10 for 2 day shipping isn't too bad of a price. Though their shipping options will probably make this site not work using for anyone outside the US.
