Paul, mate, buddy, any other time I'd be with you on this one, seriously I would. But as one wookie said to the other wookie when asked about waxing: Noooooooo! I love (adore would be another word) the new movie (regardless of what Sith George thinks of it), but I'm a bit done with SW. I'd keep the powder on this one dry until 6 months before the lead up to Ep VIII, then you're on a winner

haha, perhaps you're right, I did say I was probably being a bit hopeful on this one Perhaps I am over compensating for my disappointment of how bad the new movie was .... Although I liked the way it looked overall, BB8 was cute and was nice to see the old cast back again but....... I just could not believe in the bad guys, Rey too was just not a believable character either, the story was a contrived rehash and the ending sucks greasy donkey balls as was the dynamic pacing, it was like watching a Michael Bay movie Gutted !! I was left wishing Lucas had directed it instead as JJ Abrams doesn't seem to understand character development ...... should have called it a "False Hope" That said I am glad you enjoyed the movie though and wouldn't want to take away from that. Anyhow, it's only a movie, Och aye the Noo, "disney" matter now oh well, looks like "Airfix" is gonna win the day anyhow, which is cool, I have loads of Airfix to choose from including an old Airfix X Wing, well very nearly Airfix anyhow

A few weeks ago I would have thought what a great idea.
Then just before Christmas I saw the new film and my love for Star Wars has faltered a bit. I am not saying it's a bad film but I was left disappointed.
Shame really as episodes iv, v and vi have to be three of my favourite films of all time.

The trouble with Star Wars now is that because of the epic stature of the first three films made, the new movies do not need to be good to be successful.... as we have just seen, worst Star Wars movie, best Box Office ever.... There was quite a lot I liked about the new movie, I just didn't like the direction, dynamic pacing or the contrived story, plot and characters, oh and the ending was woefully weak ass too.

That is exactly how I feel about the prequels. The beginning of Ep3 was the highlight of the entire trilogy. There was no surprises in it, little suspense, and some truly horrific stereotypes. Crap, man, Anakin was a creepy freakin' stalker in ep2 for cruds sake. I haven't seen ep7 yet, but I've already heard the arguments from both sides and I'm sure that I will love it. Sorry Paul lol. The first trilogy was clearly better, and always will be better then the prequels. So if the new movie is anything like the originals, then its better by default lol. The Prequels could have been so much more than they were. Instead they were a Lucas cash grab just for marketing more merchandise for the franchise. ... and we fell for it. I have a large collection of ep1 toys and the toy shops won't even give them a casual glance. No one wants that crap lol. However, I found something that would have been a far superior story line had Lucas been interested in sharing his "vision" with people who wanted the trilogy to be more than a half ass attempt at making money. This guy makes a much more convincing story line and has some very valid points for the way he would have done it. If you're a true SW fan then they are worth watching.
The end of this alternate retelling of the prequels would have flowed naturally into the original trilogy and would have made far better sense when going back to watch Ep4 again. It leads me to believe that Lucas NEVER had any real ideas behind the story that led to ep4 in the first place, and instead, just made it up as he went along, focusing on what he thought the fans would like best. Forget about those theories about how "secretly brilliant" or "genius" the entire series is. That's just fanboy wind blowing up your kilt. The only real effort he ever spent in the films was on the first (original) three. Wheew! I've been bottling that up for weeks now. I'm tired of listening to the fanboys proclaim how genius Lucas is. His biggest credits, aside from ep4, have been as an executive producer, not a director or story writer. So regardless of who's in charge of the franchise, as long as it stays true to the SW Galaxy, Universe, or Expanded Universe, I will be a fan of Star Wars. ...although it is a little bizarre seeing the Disney logo on all of the merch now. That feels wrong for some reason. lol

"Wheew! I've been bottling that up for weeks now." Hahaha I am so pleased I'm gonna wait till most people have seen it before I properly vent my beans, so to speak To be fair you do make some good points, and I really don't want to spoil Episode 7 for you, especially as it is so well suited to do it for you all by itself I thought the plot and story to Episode 3 was better than 7, by some margin, I suggest you go drunk, very drunk, and treat it as roller coaster ride and don't worry about the gaping plot holes or the totally unbelievable moments or characters, just look at BB8 and go "Aw that's so cute !!" and enjoy the fact they built a full size Falcon I will watch the above youtuberies, I have also written an alternative plot line for Episode 7 but to share it now would be a spoiler for you, laters perhaps, but my idea is much better than what's on offer, and I am not boasting here .... You're right though, the best thing Lucas ever did was a New Hope, but even so I am left feeling I would have preferred Lucas over JJ Abrams.... But to be fair to Eps 1, 2 & 3 at least the story was ok and basically coherent, maybe not great but coherent, JJ Abrams has just bodged his way through this and left it to the next director to sort out, no character development, nothing just whizzy whizzy woo, shiny thing, shiny thing, woo. For me what let down Eps 1, 2 & 3 was the bad acting, Obi Wan, Anakin, most in fact and especially Jar Jar Binks ffs.... I did like the look of it overall though, some great vehicle designs etc. despite current lack of popularity Anyhow, at least they can't ruin the original Star Wars now, at least we still have that Btw I am still laughing at how appallingly the voting is going for this suggestion, 8 to 3 against ! haha Anyways, I do hope you can enjoy the "Farts Awaken", somebodies got to

LOL! I'll spare you from my feelings about ep1. I remember walking out of the theater with my friends and we were all discussing how we hoped ep2 would be better lol. Looking back on it now, I would've waited for the DVD releases before seeing them. All I can say is that I think George Lucas is a horrible story writer lol. But, I still can't wait to see what JJ has done with the new film. At least Harrison finally got his wish. Not one that I can agree with, but this is a new saga for the next generation. Still wishing they would've used some of the EU story elements, as I've heard they didn't even bother trying. Too bad. There is such a wealth of content to borrow from in the EU. I have been waiting decades for Corran Horn to show up in a film. My favorite Jedi in the EU.

Yeah, I like the vids, he's pretty much on the ball for what is a good story and character development. I can see, in fact I predict a remake happening of Eps 1, 2 & 3 and probably Eps 7, 8 and 9, CG improving as it is they could lift actors out of old footage and put them in new story lines and construct new lines for them from previous films interviews etc. a little bit of CG magic to get the lip sync right etc. even have a stooge actor and just replace the face from archive footage. I bet you a pound to a pinch of unicorn poop that Disney have already thought of this as the current crop of new releases don't need to be good to sell well and starting a run of remakes 3+ years after episode 9 will make them even more money Yeah, Disney logos on Star Wars aint right... I have been watching some of the Rebels Star Wars and Clone Wars anims, they're alright, nice bit of schlock. I am surprised that JJ Abrams didn't even bother with the EU.. but having seen the film, perhaps not....

I have to agree with you. They really could make almost anything from the Prequels and reinvent the story to make better sense. Yeah, the story changes in the vids make sense, and he has good points for why he would change things in those particular ways. I highly doubt Lucas could back up his choices lol. I'm hoping Disney reboots the prequels. Wipe them out. ALL OF THEM.

Meh, the pod racing was just a ton of filler because Lucas needed to fill up some time for his lame script lol. There are fan edit versions on you tube. Look for the "No Cheese" edits. They make the story all that much more easier to watch.
