He we go with my first group build, I've had this kit in the stash for a long time, I'm really looking forward to building it,
Box shot

Fuselage is a huge one piece moulding so no ventral seam to clean up !

And here are all the sprues (there is a lot) i. Leaving everything in the bags for the time being as there are a few loose parts in them and I don't want to lose anything

The clear parts look like they glue into a separate frame, I prefer them moulded as one, but there we go !

Cockpit parts, and a load of ordinance

More ordinance

Intake parts I think

I will use the kit decals, there are 2 large sheets

Instructions and a bag of screws

And some aftermarket bits
I don't know what manufacturer these are from, or wether or not I will use them, I'll decide come the time

Eduard big ed set

This is what it contains

A serious amount of etched brass ! Should keep me busy for a while

I hope to make a start on this kit tomorrow, but it will depend how quickly I get the shark kit finished
I may build a base or a diorama for this, it depends if I can find any crew figures in the stash

Cheers

I am more than happy to step by step the whole thing, as long as you guys are ok with it ! After a long time building solo, I really enjoy the process of photographing and sharing my progress, it has really helped kickstart my interest in modelling again

Breaking World news there is now officially a World shortage of nickel and brass, this shortage has been created by 1 person stock piling the Czech republics whole years production. Eduard spokesman said that a container left their factory for delivery to a secret location to a mysterious purchaser only known as Brundledonk.

Pete you have gone OCD on brass man that is some serious detailing there my friend it will look superb with all that extra gear going on.Cannot wait to see this one start,
Good luck
Gary

Look out for the headline "world shortage of Prozac" once I start putting it on the kit lol ! Luck has been on my side on the last few kits I have made, I have my fingers and toes crossed it stays with me for this one !
I will be clearing the mess from my bench that I made building the shark, and starting the build in the morning
I am really looking forward to getting stuck into it

Ok work begins on the phantom, my plan of attack on this build is to start with the areas of modelling that I dislike the most, such as ordinance, landing gear, intakes etc.and as it happens stage one of this kit is the intakes ! So parts clipped off and there were a few pin marks to fill

I taped everything together so I could do a dry fit, as I've read that the intakes are the weakest part of this kit

Even though I was prepared for the fact that the fit was poor, I had no idea how truly shocking they are ! I

I could make or buy intake covers, but that would limit my options for displaying it, I am thinking of possibly depicting this ready for launch on the carrier deck harnessed to the catapult. So covers are out of the question if I go that route ! Resin Seamless intakes are available, but I have no funds to buy these at the moment, but I can't leave them like this

So after a bit of head scratching and looking at how the aftermarket intakes fitted, I knew some cutting would be required, this area needs to be removed

I used a scriber to mark the cut lines then a photo etched razor saw to cut it out. I'm not sure yet if I need to remove the bit that was behind it

My idea is to glue it all together off the fuselage and blend everything in to the front inside lip of the intake. I just have to make sure that everything lines up where it should or I could end up with big problems
