Here is my entry into the Russian GB.  The Trumpeter 1/48 scale MIG-23M.

The box and the contents...

This HORRIBLE photo is of the ejection seat.

And here it is completed...

[DSC_0663_zpsapy7rdee]
I used Dark Dirt Flory Model wash to get in between the grooves of the padding.

Now the cockpit itself.  I used MM Enamel Russian Green Blue for the interior.

The instrument panels were all made of decals.

Now for some of the engine.  I used Dark Iron and some Burnt Iron for the colors and Flat Green for the afterburner rings.

Fuselage halves...

This is where it pays to look over the instructions as I have found an error.  If you look at the back of the exhaust there is a part added as to compared to the previous pictures.

Here is step 3.
[DSC_0672_zpsvmbqk65w]
Here is step 8.  If you look closely the back portion of the exhaust has somehow been added.....hmmmmmm.
[DSC_0673_zpsegj0zkud]
And here is step 19, where that back part is to be added, that was already on the kit according to step 8.  Thankfully I caught this before and was able to add it and it fit well on the back, had I waited it would have and could have been a different story.

Hey, this looks familiar :-). It's a very nice kit, just take your time closing the fuselage and adding the wing section. I didn't and had to deal with some steps :-/. Great that there's another Flogger in the race!

The building continues.

The fit of the fuselage with the top section of the wing brace wasn't a bad fit, just needed a little TLC.

[DSC_0680_zpslbbhqtss]
I then primed with the Stylnrez or whatever it is called.  Great stuff.

[DSC_0682_zps1eof2keh]
So I had the black basing and now it was time to paint the main color.  I choose Sky Grey and started putting down the layers [DSC_0683_zpszgk2hql5]

[DSC_0686_zpsufx9xqbb]
I then realized after putting on several layers that the color was too light, so I applied the color of Light Grey (which was the proper color....[rolleyes]) and I believe it looks a lot better.

The black basing didn't come out nearly as nice as I would have hoped, but that is what happens when you put the wrong primary color down.  Oops!

Despite the color mix up the grey turned out very nice. Beautiful color nuances. Never tried black basing, should give it a go :-)
Nice progress, looking forward to your next update.

Here is a photo of the decaling stage I forgot to post.

The decals were pretty good and not to thick.
