This is the completion of my first build. After 30 odd years away.

That looks wicked Simon! I love the Sabre, and the markings stand out nicely against the NMF, which is weathered nicely mate. Great job for a first build back! (great job, full stop!) [smile]

Seriously?! That's your first build?? That doesn't look anything like a first build after so long at all. You have some seriously excellent instincts for weathering and finishing.

Thanks guy's I'm glad you like it. I was really pleased the way this one came out. panel lines came out very nice on her. I need to thin the paint a little more next time. All my work is painted by brush as i don't have an airbrush and it hides the panel lines quite bad. Every part of this build was a massive learning curve and with the help of the community here am very happy with the end result.

Im sorry I managed to miss this one Simon ( I'm finding it increasingly difficult to keep up as the forum gets busier )

You achieved a great metal finish in this one mate, did you use a spray can ? The weathering is just right and has captured the wear of the real thing very well, in particular I like the heat staining around the exhaust, very very authentic looking Simon, a cracking build and another fantastic addition to your Lakenheath collection

Pete

Edit : just saw your comment regarding brush painting. Even more impressive, to get a finish a finish like that with a brush is no easy task and takes a lot of skill, brilliant job mate

Thank you Pete. This one was brush painted. I forgot to take a close up of the exhaust i think it came out better than i expected. I brushed on very thin layers of blue silver and brass to build up the heated look. The metallic look got better as i was doing the weathering as i was using cotton buds it kind of buffed up the finish.
I know what you mean about losing track of builds i feel a bit guilty sometimes if i miss something i made a the choice to not do a build diary of the latest one it just seemed to take up so much time i was taking pictures uploading to one site then another i seemed to lose build time. So i will be just showing reveal pictures of that one.

Thank you very much Gary. It is a plane you don't often see but i think they have lovely lines. I am very happy with the way she turned out.
