Hello everybody.

I have a 1/72 scale "Airfix TSR2" kit in the cupboard, but the colour of the plastic is to white for my tastes, so when I start the kit I am thinking of priming the kit black and use a method of marbling the paint on on a slightly off white, and adding very thin coats over the marbling.

White in general is a very translucent colour to use, but I hope that the method mentioned will help to tone the brightness of the white down.

Is a good idea to use black as a base coat or is there are any other recommendations of a base coat colour.

Terry.

Maybe Grey? base color would be determined by the final top coat color? I'm shooting in the dark here mostly. perhaps you might take some sprue from the kit and give your idea a try/trial? Best wishes!
