I was amazed that I did those eyes on the first attempt. I was into the "zone" and just didn't want to stop.
The daylight might throw up a few imperfections, but if I'm happy with the result I will give them a good gloss coat to avoid any accidental paint splashes when I come to do the flesh.

Thanks again for all your comments.

Here's a few more pics that I took. The last one shows the base colours put down early on, and yes it is upside down, it's how I always paint eyes (old habit...)

That really is a difficult choice, both are truly beautiful sculpts, If it were me I would choose the pilot, based purely on the fact that this one has a lot of interesting details and textures to paint.

But if truth be told you can't really go wrong with either of them Nigel.
Are they the same scale as the one you are currently working on ?

That one of Brad Pit actually looks like Brad Pit. O.o
I'm voting for the pilot too. He does have a lot of textures going on with him.

Same scale as the one I'm doing. I do like the Sq Leader, but my daughter likes Brad Pitt.

I've just started on the body with the scarf. Ive set up my wet pallet which I tried to explain in words, so here's a pic of it in action.

It has the range of shadow to highlight, from one colour by adding black to orange/yellow.
I've already put a base down and now I can have a cuppa and watch the footie and my mixes will not dry up.

Here's what ive done so far. Enjoy.

Sorry I do tend to paint things when they are upside down. Purely for comfort this time. [smile]

The Scarf is looking good so far and this wet method looks interesting indeed.

You've been busy blocking i see. The Scarf looks great Nigel. It's that vest I think that will be a small challenge because of the subdued color of it. I can't wait for the next update.  [smile]

Great stuff Nigel. Bought a couple of these a few years ago and marvel at their quality of detail. Will watch with great interest....maybe even get up the nerve to start one of my one!

Thanks Mike & Aidan.

The detail is stunning, which is why i'm looking at getting another. My kids told me they would get me one for Father's Day but they've realised that it is a long way off, so my son suggested getting me one for Mother's Day, as I have raised them myself and been both a mother & father to them. Sometimes I don't know whether to hug him or hit him at times, think I'll hug him as he is big enough to hit back now.

Anyway, Mike you are correct, that vest is going to be a devil, so I'm doing everything around it and varnishing it (much like a backup on a computer) that way if I need to re-do it I won't disturb the rest of the figure, well that's the theory! [rolleyes]

The more I look at it, the more I like the look of that Airman bust. It's a couple of quid more expensive than the others, but then I'm not too worried as I won't be buying it [wink]
