Hi there
I was trawling through the net and came across these pages, they are very interesting on the designation meanings of US war planes from WW2, ie P-38 this was P meaning pursuit(fighter) and the 38 being the 38th type designated or actually ordered by the US army airforce. Thought that I would post it up on here for some light reading for everyone[biggrin]. I found it very very intersting especially as my main area of interest in planes are planes from the 1930's through to the cold war jets, getting more into modern jets as I read more. I thought I already knew a little bit about this, but the sites go in depth and are well worth the reading.
