Hi all,
I usually use Halfords aerosol primer decanted and used through my airbrush, then use a mixture of Tamiya acrylics and Vallejo model air on top. I've ran out of Halfords primer and what I'm wanting to know is, if I use some Vallejo surface primer that I have, will I be OK to use Tamiya acrylics on top or will it cause a bad reaction with Tamiya not being truly water based?
Any help/advice on this would be appreciated.
Thanks. ATB.

I haven't had a problem with it. I've only had to do a small amount as I don't have much in the way of Tamiya paints and I'm very slow so te initial coat had had a lot of time to cure. Also using tamiya thinners with valejo paints was not a problem either.

I use Vallejo primers on all my models, and have used Tamiya, Gunze (lacquer and acrylic) Vallejo, oils and enamels over them not yet had any problems. Well apart from peeling when I don't let it dry for a couple of days then sand or scratch it. Stephen

That's great thanks Stephen and bitzadoggy. Re the thinning of Vallejo acrylics with Tamiya thinner, doesn't that react bad and turn the paint 'gloopy'? I once tried using a bit of tamiyas thinner to flush my airbrush through between Vallejo colour changes and it went like a jelly mess.
Once again, cheers guys.

Hven't found that to be a problem. I add the thinners to the cup then the paint and mix with a cocktail stick. I have been use vallejo airbrush cleaner to wash through between colours though.
