Its almost a miracle....no, it IS a miracle that I have finished a GB project! The project depicts a time perhaps a hundred years from now-2317-when war has finally decimated the world. Note the bomb that has broken open and contains a yellow substance. Its YDO [Yellow Death Omega]. a biological weapon that has destroyed all animal/human life. The operator of the auto spider, a cobbled together war machine, blasted his way through remnants of the outer compound building to a remaining shelter entrance. What appeared before him was an open shelter. The outer masonry shell had been partially blown away but the core tube, made from depleted uranium, was intact. How Ironic! The shelter intact, but contaminated and therefore worthless. The operator descended into the shelter, found a comfortable spot, then removed his respirator and protective suit. He took a slow, deep breath, closed his eyes and drifted into eternity. No one to recognize his achievements or mourn his passing. He was a period at the end of a long story. The end of man's story.side view montage by teddy ladd , on Flickrshelter montage + by teddy ladd , on Flickroverhead by teddy ladd , on FlickrIMG_9550 PS by teddy ladd , on Flickrend on image by teddy ladd , on Flickrdetails montage by teddy ladd , on Flickrdetails details 2 by teddy ladd , on Flickr and this last picture is from earlier images already posted during the final steps in the project. Hi Ted, you made it! Very glad it all worked out, and what a great final! The amount of detail is crazy. Each picture reveals more and more of the countless elements you managed to cramp in there. Following your WIP was (as always) epic :-) There is not much left of the original base kit. Everything is altered, modified and mostly build from scratch. The rust and plants are working great together and the look and feel of your build perfectly fits the theme. Very well done Ted and congrats on this great entry.

Thank you very much Fabian! It was a lot of fun (and work of course). The varnish problem at the end fried my brain but it all came out ok. In retrospect, I wish that the project was less “busy” and the car body not as corroded, etc. I’m always learning of course. I may do some similar projects in the future?

Ted...Congratulations on completing the very unusual model. You must have a dedication to rust in its most advanced form. Happy New Year to you!

Thanks Matt,
When I did photography I shot a lot of derelict vehicles. Every phase and color of rust you can imagine. With this project I wanted to imply countless decades of rust and exposure. I am now pretty sick of rust! Happy new year!!

Congratulations to this awesome build, Ted! Very impressive, I am still discovering further details, even after having a second look on the pics. The scenery fits perfectly to the story, too. Great work!

Top gun! Wow, congratulations, Ted! I'm sure it was a load of work, however it was it worth, right ;-)? Btw: was that your first GB?

Thanks guys! The project was a lot of work. My first GB? No, I’ve entered quite a few but this is only the 3rd one I have finished! Left several GB projects in the dirt.
