Alright, a couple of days later and I've poured some water.  First step was to enclose the base so that no epoxy resin would spill out and I would have nice crisp edges.  To do so I cut styrene sheet to size and applied clear packing tape to the inside surface, then joined them to form a box around the diorama base.  I used a frame clamp to hold it all together while it cured.

Here is the base all ready for the first pour.....

After the first pour.......

And after the second pour......

So far I'm happy with the way the epoxy turned out, while mixing, I added 2 drops of blue paint to ever-so-slightly tint the water.  I like the water level where it is now and the next step will be to place the vehicle in the water and then create a rippled water effect over the surface of the water.

Thanks for looking,

I couldn't stand just looking at it so I took the sides off to see how it all turned out and all is good.  I'm very happy with the results and it was much easier than I expected.  I'm going to let the epoxy fully harden for a few days and then I'll add another effect to the top surface to give it less of a 'glass' look.

Here is an overall look.........

here is a close up.................

and here with the vehicle in place........

Very close to the finish now and I can't wait to see it all come together.

Thanks,

I feel the same way about the eagerness to see a project come together. You have really done a great job with the vehicle and the base. Already looks like a winner from every angle!

Just putting the finishing touches on the build, waiting for everything to fully dry, then I should have some final reveal photos to post.

Thanks again to everyone that followed my build and provided tips along the way.

If it's between Ted and I, I will gladly accept 2nd place.  His build is very impressive.

Hopefully you can find time to finish at least the figures in the next week and a half to have something to enter.  Would be a shame if only 2 builds are completed after all the amazing ideas at the start of this GB.

1. I hope that Fabian and maybe someone else can push out their projects by the deadline?

2. Tim, that is a very flattering comment regarding the disposition of this GB as a contest, but honestly that is up to Bob--I'm already happy as a proverbial clam. If I simply FINISH a GB I have "won"---LOL. I have finished three GB's since being on Genessis and left other GB projects in the dirt due to one excuse or another. I have enjoyed this project but it will take months to get the rust out of my brain! Best of luck to EVERYONE to finish.
